Doctor :   cold sores are usually caused by HSV 1
Doctor :   Cold sores, sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth.
Doctor :   The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days.
Doctor :   They usually heal after several days to 2 weeks.
User :   So if I go to a Dr to get something can I prevent the spreading & scabbing? Does it have a cure?
Doctor :   yes

User :   Thanks!
Doctor :   Cold sores will usually start to heal on their own within a few days.
Doctor :   Treatment may include skin creams, ointments, or sometimes pills.
