User :   Hello,
I am wondering what could cause a complete loss of clitoral sensitivity.
I am a 30-year-old woman. I have good overall health. I do not have any STIs. I am not in a relationship (or having sexual intercourse) at the moment. Since about age 18, I have had a high/healthy libido, but I have never reached orgasm. (I guess that means I have primary anorgasmia). I have one polycystic ovary, but I don't think I have PCOS. I am a healthy weight.
I used to get a lot of pleasure from masturbation (with a vibrator), despite not being able to reach orgasm. About six months ago, I stopped feeling any pleasure or physical sensation in my clitoris when masturbating. I had hoped this problem would go away, but the sensation has not returned. It's as if my clitoris doesn't work any more. Otherwise my responsiveness is much the same - my vulva still gets moist etc. It is frustrating as I still have a healthy libido, but can no longer 'pleasure' myself. :-(
I would like to know if I can regain clitoral sensation, or if I have to learn to accept this change in my body.
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hello
User :   What is your area of specailisation?
Doctor :   Please give me few seconds to go through your query.
User :   Okay
Doctor :   I am A General Physician.
User :   I hope you don't mind me asking about sex :-)
Doctor :   It is fine with me, I will answer to the best of my knowledge, otherwise I shall refer you to Gynecologist or Sexual Specialist Query option.
User :   Thank you, that sounds good
Doctor :   Ok, I have gone through your query.
Doctor :   May I ask you a few more questions pertaining to your problem.
User :   Of course
Doctor :   Have you undergone any Clitoral Arousal thereapies ?
User :   No. I'm not sure what that means.
Doctor :   1.Mechanical Devices,EROS Clitoral Therapy device is the only FDA-approved device currently available to treat female arousal disorders.
Doctor :   The prescription-only device produces clitoral vascular engorgement using a vacuum system and can be used during masturbation and partnered sexual activity. A small trial showed significant improvement in all symptoms of female sexual arousal disorders.
User :   I haven't heard of 'EROS' before. I have only used lubricants and a vibrator before.
Doctor :   Have you used Zestra or ArginMax ?
User :   no. what are they? medications?
Doctor :   They are pure herbal extracts having some hormonal and vascular effect locally and have shown subsequent increase in sexual arousal and well being.
User :   Would you suggest I try these herbal extracts?
Doctor :   Yes, But before that
Doctor :   Do you have any history of Smoking ?
Doctor :   Do you consume alcohol ?
User :   No, I have never smoked (not even one cigarette!)
User :   I do consume alcohol, but very rarely. (Maybe 2 or 3 drinks per month)
Doctor :   That is very encouraging.
Doctor :   Have you have ever undergone any emotional trauma or any child abuse or any sexual abuse in the past ?
User :   Hmm not exactly. I didn't have a very happy childhood, but I wasn't really abused. I think I am a bit cut-off from my emotions, but I am not very troubled.
Doctor :   could you exactly describe 'cut off from emotions' ?
User :   I think I have difficulty understanding or recognising my emotions. I don't appear very emotional. But I think I have feelings somewhere...I just have trouble accessing them, or that's how it seems.
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   For example, I don't usually feel sad or cry. Instead, I will feel like I want to wach a sad movie. I will cry during the move because one of the characters suffers, but I wonder if I'm actually crying for myself as well (and just need the movie to instigate it)
Doctor :   Ok. I understand.
Doctor :   I feel you are more stoic in your out look which actually most of the philosophies preach like Christ or Buddha.
Doctor :   But I need to ask what made you cut off from your emotions , Was it a bad break up or something of that sort ?
User :   Lol. Yeah, that is possibly quite true. I am a bit of a loner as well.
Doctor :   Or was it because of your child hood ?
User :   Ah I think it stems from my upbringing. My parents mean well, but they have issues. (I guess we all do!) My dad has a lot of narcissistic traits. He was controlling, and perhaps ridiculed me if I expressed negative emotions. I guess I learnt that you don't talk about feelings.
Doctor :   Ok.I can understand.
User :   Perhaps it was easier to shut-out the feelings, than to try to deal with them alone.
Doctor :   Hmm I understand.
User :   I can understand this issue may impact my ability (inability!) to reach orgasm. But I am disappointed and frustrated that I have lost clitoral sensation in the last six months. :-(
Doctor :   I will prescribe you two medications and I want you to use them for next one month.
User :   Okay
Doctor :   And do not worry.
Doctor :   1. Please start with Zestra gel. every night or whenever you are fine with having an intercourse.
Doctor :   Do you have a boy friend now or a sex partner ?
User :   No, I am single
Doctor :   I would suggest that someone who is compassionate and can help you in this ordeal will be of more help than doing it yourself.
Doctor :   A nice massage and foreplay with Zestra might help you in 10-15 days.
User :   Just having a look at the Zestra website... is getting the pump bottle the right gel?
User :   I don't really have anybody in my life who I would want to help me with this problem at the moment. But it's okay. I don't mind 'playing' by myself. :-)
Doctor :   And the second one lets experiment after One month and that is Arginmax.
Doctor :   That is not an issue. Please be confident and there have been numerous instances where people with Clitoris problems have been totally or at least partially treated
Doctor :   Hope I have helped you , please let me know if you have anything else to ask ?
Doctor :   Thank you for consulting me.
Doctor :   Take care, bye for now.
