User :   Recently, I have started putting things together and realize that I often have trouble breathing after putting a strong mint gum in my mouth...I always had a bottle of water nearby to help chase down that first 'gulp' and that seemed to help. But the other day, I bent over to spit out my mouthwash and a little had gone down my throat - I started coughing and my throat (I guess) closed up and I was wheezing and had a terrible time getting air in. Within about 30-45 seconds (which felt like eternity) I was able to breathe this an allergy? Is that too obvious?
Doctor :   hello
User :   Hi there!
User :   Thanks for responding,
Doctor :   your welcome
Doctor :   give me a min please
User :   sure
Doctor :   i am going thru your query
Doctor :   may i know your age and gender please ?
User :   28 year old female
Doctor :   do you have any other medical problems ?
Doctor :   are you on any medications ?
User :   i had asthma growing up but don't deal with that anymore. though i do have an inhaler 'just in case'. i am on allegra-D for seasonal allergies.
Doctor :   well from your history it surely looks that your symptoms are aggravated by a trigger and its typical of asthma
Doctor :   any tests you have done recently ?
User :   no i didn't know if i should ask for an allergy test? or what to ask for specifically?
User :   didn't know if i should go to my primary care physician or an allergist?
Doctor :   dnot worry i will give you all the information you need
User :   thank you.
Doctor :   the physician you need to see would be a pulmonologist
Doctor :   and in your case specifically you do need to get an ALLERGY TEST
Doctor :   an allergist would be conducting the test
User :   ok thank you. do i tell them that it's mint products or just let them run the normal tests? i know they're the professionals...
Doctor :   no you should always give them a detail history ...
Doctor :   thats very crucial
User :   ok.
Doctor :   dont worry once the problem is found you will be fine
User :   in the meantime, am I supposed to stop using these products?? I've only been really scared about not breathing that one time - the rest of the time it passes after a few seconds.
Doctor :   yes these are the potential triggers and not to be taken
User :   alright. well thank you.
Doctor :   your welcome
Doctor :   take care
Doctor :   have a good one
User :   you, too - thanks again.
Doctor :   good bye
