User :   mu husband's abdomen is very distended or bloated. this has been gong on for over a week now. he also is experiencing a weak urine flow but still has to urinate frequentley although only small amounts at a time. my husband is a heavey beer drinker or at least used to be. he has no appetite at all and only eats a few bites at a time. the lack of appetite started before the stomach bloating. he is getting very weak and only sleeps a few hours at a time

Doctor :   I mean the urine problem?

Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Is he having pain in the abdomen too?

Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Let me brief you now.
Doctor :   Since I am not able to perform an examination on your husband, I cannot pinpoint the exact causes for the abdominal bloating. However,
Doctor :   based on the history that you have provided to me I can give you the possibilities.
Doctor :   The abdominal bloating may have occurred due to one of these three possible conditions.
Doctor :   1. Hypoproteinemia which refers to reduce body proteins, in view of reduced nutrition.
Doctor :   2. ascitis secondary to a liver condition, cirrhosis to be precise.
Doctor :   and lastly a remote possibility of a renal condition.
Doctor :   He would need examination and evaluation by a gastroenterologist for further treatment.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   what do you mean. have i followed what you have suggested
Doctor :   I mean, since the treatment can only be suggested after knowing the cause for the problem, I
Doctor :   My opinion is that he needs to see a doctor, a gastroenterologist for the evaluation.
Doctor :   Have you followed?
User :   no, this is the first time i have spoken to anyone about this
Doctor :   I understand that.
Doctor :   This can be treated only after evaluating the cause for the bloating.
Doctor :   Hence I would suggest you to consult a gastroenterologist.
User :   yes, i understand. we will try to schedule an appointment
Doctor :   In the mean, I would suggest to reduce the water intake.
Doctor :   He also needs to quit drinking alcohol.
Doctor :   Avoid drugs such as painkillers.
User :   o.k. what would be a reasonable amount that you would suggest
Doctor :   You mean the cost of treatment?
User :   no, i meant the amopint of fluids to drink, say in an 8 hour period
User :   sorry for the misspell. that word is to be amount
Doctor :   In gross, I would say reduce about 250 to 500 ml of what he has been taking now.
Doctor :   If he has been taking 8 glasses of water, then reduce it to 6 glasses of water.
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   no thank you
Doctor :   The most important is to avoid alcohol.
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me. Bye for now. Please refer your friends to our service.
