User :   Hi I am a 32 year old woman, and i have been suffering from the same thing for over 10 years. My eye lashes always fall out, i end up with a gap on both of my eyes from time to time. I stopped wearing mascara for the same reason. The gap in my eye lashes are always on the same spot. My eyelashes used to be full thick and very long. Ever since they started falling out they have gotten thinner, shorter and very annoying, because for some reason when the eye lashes grow back...they will start falling again in the same spot. I don't know what to do anymore. I have not been to a dermatologist for this problem.
Doctor :   give me a min, let me go thru your query
User :   okay
Doctor :   do you have any other medical condition ?
User :   no
Doctor :   One of the most common culprits for eyelash loss is a condition called blepharitis
User :   what exactly is that
Doctor :   and its a type of infection
User :   how do i know if i have an infection
Doctor :   any loss of hair on your scalp ?
User :   nothing other than the normal
Doctor :   it is an irritation of the eyelids. It has a variety of causes, ranging from allergy and infection to irritation
Doctor :   Trauma to the eyelid and lash area can also lead to eyelash loss.If you have plucked any lashes or if you have a habit of tugging on your lashes or pulling them out, then it is very likely that is the cause of your eyelash loss.
User :   okay. is there a i have to go to a dermatologist?
Doctor :   Antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications are often used in conjunction with eyelid scrubs, antioxidants, and massages. and for that seeing a dermatologist is must
User :   No...sometimes i do have to say that it itches in that particualar area...when it does i notice that they fall out very quickly a few at a time
Doctor :   Other medical condition which may cause loss of eyelashes include hypothyroidism
Doctor :   most common its the makeup
Doctor :   that can cause it
Doctor :   Rule out allergies to your eye makeup
User :   I have never been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I really don't wear makeup either
Doctor :   i am telling the most common causes
User :   okay
Doctor :   which also includes a infection
Doctor :   dont worry
Doctor :   with a visit to the dermatologist we will be able to pinpoint the exact cause
Doctor :   and you will be treated accordingly
User :   okay so then it's a must to see a dermatologist
Doctor :   also Calorie restriction and protein deficiency can both contribute to thinning of eyelashes.
Doctor :   so yes you do need to see a dermatologist
User :   yes i did read up on that
User :   okay thank you so much
Doctor :   only after a physical examination we get the exact cause
Doctor :   your most welcome
Doctor :   take care of your self
User :   thank too!
Doctor :   your feedback is highly appreciated
Doctor :   good bye
User :   good bye
