User :   I have been sick with a flu/cold for about 1 1/2 months. My office is very cold, yet outside my office it is warm. I have been on 2 rounds of antibiotics already, they have helped but when the medication is gone, I get sick again. Could the temp in my office be a factor in my prolonged sickness? I am always walking from the warm environment into my cold office but mostly I sit at my computer. I have never in my life been this sick. I take echinacea, cold effects and Vitamin C. I am getting quite frustrated.
Doctor :   hello
Doctor :   i am Dr
User :   hi
Doctor :   may i know your age and gender please ?
User :   Female
Doctor :   your age please ?
User :   40
Doctor :   do you have any other medical problem ?
User :   no other than getting headaches all the time. I have had headacheds since I was 17 but this also runs in the family.
Doctor :   i see
Doctor :   and can you tell me what all medications are you on ?
User :   Prozac, Prevacid, Elavil (headaches), Clanazopan (for night terrors) and trazadone (headaches)
Doctor :   and the antibiotics ?
User :   oh, I dont remember, but my doc said that the last one she prescribed to me was stronger than the first and if it did not help she wanted me to come in for xrays. I am going to see her today. But I thought a second opinion would be good as well.
Doctor :   no thats alright
Doctor :   well yes you do seem to be having a severe infection , and since it is responding to antibiotics thats good
Doctor :   do you remember how long were you told to take the course ?
User :   Both antibiotics I took for 10 straight days, 2 pills each day both times. I did finish all the medication.
Doctor :   and yes the next step in a underlying infection not fully responding to antibiotics is an X RAY
User :   For what purpose? Looking at my sineses?
Doctor :   yes they will also do a lung x ray to see if the infection has spread or not
User : the cold office is not a factor in any of this?
Doctor :   it can aggravate the condition
Doctor :   but not the PRIMARY cause
User :   ok....well thanks for your help, I guess I'll see what the xrays say.
Doctor :   cold air from the air condition is dry , you should try having to put a humidifier in your room if you can
Doctor :   your most welcome
Doctor :   take care
User :   you too, have a great day!
