User :   i have a very stiff neck

User :   this is since i woke up on sunday morning
User :   however, it has been getting progressively worse

User :   and had a lot of trouble sleeping last night

User :   no none
User :   slight headache yest, but that was temporary

User :   also the pain had spread to the back yest, but after lying down for ahour or so, that become alright.. yes both help, but the effects strt waring off after some time, and it hurts like hell

Doctor :   Sudden onset neck stiffness with out fever can occur due to muscle spasm or secondary to few drugs used for vomiting.
Doctor :   If there is no history of use of medications before the symptoms occurred, then its probably neck spasm.
Doctor :   I shall suggest you few measures that should help you.
Doctor :   1. Heat fomentation with hot water bags locally twice or thrice a day.
Doctor :   2. Continue local voveron gel.
Doctor :   3. You can use oral antiinflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen 400mg twice daily after meals instead of crocin pain relief.
Doctor :   4. Proper sleeping habits - lying on a flat bed with soft pillows.
Doctor :   Do not use more than 2 pillows at your head end.
Doctor :   Avoid using too soft pillows.
Doctor :   5. Lastly avoid exercises till your symptoms improvel
