User :   Hi Doc... I just had discussion with Psychoanalyst
User :   and it turned out...that emotional unstability and aprehension are causing problem
User :   for me in both my personal and professional life

Doctor :   May I know if the psychologist advice you few solutions for it?
User :   he said that you need to attend therapy sessions so that these problems could be worked on
User :   i just want to there any way i could deal them on my own
User :   i scored 2 on reactive....emotinal stability..scale
Doctor :   That would depend on the severity of the condition, in terms how good you are in controlling your emotions and apprehension levels.
User :   and 7 on self assured.... apprehension...scale
Doctor :   Though there are few measures that can be performed from home.
Doctor :   I would suggest you to start of the therapy for a few days.
User :   some least to start...till i get hold of these sessions

Doctor :   First start of by knowing how you react to an emotional situation,

Doctor :   So the first step is to recognize that you are emotionaly disturbed.
Doctor :   2. Once you recognize them, the next one will be to think of the cause that is responsible for this disturbances.

Doctor :   Basic emotions of human being are joy, anger, surprise, disgust, anticipation and so on.
Doctor :   These are the few emotion we can recognise.

Doctor :   Some frequently, some rarely and some can have them every day.

Doctor :   Its necessary that one has control over them, not let them get over oneself, if a person is to lead a good and healthy life.

User :   i dont understand...everyone feels the same emotions...
Doctor :   and these emotions keep continuing almost every day.
Doctor :   This can cause psychological disturbances.
Doctor :   These individuals are termed as emotionally unstable ones.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested.
User :   what do you mean by controlling emotions....if you are are...there is nothing you can do about it
Doctor :   like I said, there are positive emotions like that of joy and happiness, which are fine.
Doctor :   Only when the symptoms are negative such as sadness, fear, disgust and so on, they can cause problems.
Doctor :   Its these emotions I meant that you need to have control on.
User :   ok...control means?
Doctor :   I don't say, that you should not feel sad in times of sadness.
User :   ok...then?
Doctor :   I am saying that sadness should not be ones life.
Doctor :   There are people who just remain sad all the time,
Doctor :   may be for multiple reasons, or for a single reason.
User : you mean to say that the negative emotions should not be prolonged...just like positive emotions dont last...right

Doctor :   Such emotional disturbances are known to cause psychological problems and hence
Doctor :   more than saying control your emotions, I would say,
Doctor :   Stability while emotional disturbance is what you need to achieve, if you belong to emotionally unstable individual.

User :   you mean that even when negative emotions come over...i need to find a way to get back to normal as soon as possible
Doctor :   Precisely what you need is to find ways to learn the optimistic when these emotions are trying to get you down.

Doctor :   1. Recognize the emotions when it occurs.

Doctor :   Both the positive ones and negative ones.
Doctor :   In doing so, you can think of what could have caused these emotions.

Doctor :   The positive ones, to help you recognize that your life also consists of joy and happiness and not just sadness later if you are upset by these emotions.

Doctor :   2. When you have these emotions , stop and think for a while what is going in your mind.

Doctor :   and why its happening, you may be able to find the cause for these disturbances.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Some can be a rational thought and some can be irrational ones.
User :   hmm...right
Doctor :   You can know if these thoughts are rational or irrational by noting down the points for and against these thoughts.

Doctor :   If you have more of for thoughts then they may be some things that you can avoid of and if there are against it, then its probably an irrational one and such thoughts needs to be avoided in the future.

Doctor :   Once you recognize these thoughts, there are two ways that you can react in such situations in the future.
Doctor :   1. Do not react much to them or
Doctor :   2. React opposite to it.
User :   opposite?
Doctor :   Meaning find ways in the moment of sadness to see the positive ones which can make you feel happy.
User :   you are asking to trick mind...hehe!!
Doctor :   I shall just give an example.
Doctor :   You may come across with problems at work, problems with your boss.
User :   okkk...
Doctor :   There are two ways of dealing it.
Doctor :   React less to such situations (emotionally I mean)
Doctor :   Second is to think this way, your boss can at max fire you, but there are other jobs that you can get.
Doctor :   These thoughts can bring out the positives in you.
Doctor :   Off course these are for irrational ones alone.
Doctor :   If a problem is with you, you can develop the positive thoughts by finding ways of correcting it, in future.

User :   ok...what you are saying is think of max negative that could happen..and think a way out
Doctor :   Recognize your mistake, think what can be done to correct this mistake and how to avoid them in the future.

Doctor :   These are just few instances that I can give, you can over a period of time, how to tackle such situations.

Doctor :   Apart from these few more guideliness
Doctor :   practising yoga, meditations, physical exercises.
Doctor :   Apologising when your needed and so on can help build the optimistic spirit.

Doctor :   The training should help you deals with such situations in a more effective way.
