User :   Hello Doctor
Doctor :   Hi
User :   My Wife is 14 weeks pregnant
User :   She has been advised to take thyrosereen panel
User :   Can you please brief on the test?
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   May i know her age?
User :   20
Doctor :   This is thyroid test for TSH, T3 and T4
User :   OK. Also she has taken NT Scan
User :   Does it has side effects?
Doctor :   No that is not at all harmful, it helps in detecting if the baby in the womb has any neural tube defects
Doctor :   Which can be evaluated by this scan.
User :   OK, My Blood Group is B -ve and My spouse's O+ve.
User :   Does that have complications to the fetus?
User :   like RH Factor
Doctor :   It does not have any complications to the foetus
User :   Ok, How the NT scan is evaluvated. What level of the output (Result) should be from NT Scan?
Doctor :   Rh incompatibility usually isn't a problem if it's the mother's first pregnancy because, unless there's some sort of abnormality, the fetus's blood does not normally enter the mother's circulatory system during the course of the pregnancy.
User :   OK
Doctor :   NT scanning is a simple procedure of USG only. In this the focus is more on the spinal cord and nasal bone
Doctor :   The length of the nasal bone is measured and is correlated with the mothers age, any family history of neural defects and the amount of fluid which should be present surrounding the foetus
Doctor :   Then according to the pregnancy duration the values are calculated.
Doctor :   The results calculated are about 80% accurate.
User :   ok, so wht would be the next step if the results are not to the optimum?
Doctor :   Then another method called triple marker study is done and also Amniotic fluid which is present inside the uterus is aspirated and studied.
Doctor :   Both these methods are more than 90% accurate.
User :   ok, thank you very much for your information...
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting
