User :   I am preparing for and endo. eval friday. I had had panic/gad since 19 and take 1mg ativan 3x. Sometimes I would get depressed and take prozac 10 or wellbutrin 150. Now at 60 I have hypothyroid and hypogonadism diagnoses. On 50mcg synthroid my tsh went from 4.555 to 1.3in 4months. My test. is 270. My family md wanted meon test. androderm 5mg but I wanted to wait on that. Now I have low grade sadness/depression, gain weight-fatgut and I work out daily, overeat, have enlarged breasts, do not get spontaneous erections but do ok with foreplay and viagra 50. Should I take cytomel for dep., should I take a specific antidepressant-heard they dont workwithsynthroid-they certainly havent helped me. And should I try testosterone. TY xxxxxx
Doctor :   hello

Doctor :   you are already taking medications for your depression ?
Doctor :   when did you start taking ?
User :   Ps my dhea level was 621 4 monhts ago. Famlymd never tests for everything only follows up on red flags he worried about like retested freet only and tsh only
User :   I was taking prozac 10 then switched to wellbutrin 150 but did not help and md said forget them
Doctor :   and what are you on now?
User :   When I went on synth. and felt depressed more-4 month ago i WENT ON AD'S BUT QUIT LAST MONTH
User :   Now I take ativan, synthroid and occasionally topamax for headaches-thats it
Doctor :   and now you want to start on a anti depressant ?
User :   No I want to knowif it wouldbebetter to take cytomel, or armour, or testosterone instead
User :   I am worried about the breasts, belly fat-overeating, and thedepression-all of them
Doctor :   well it wont be possible for me to tell you which one to take via this online consultation as all the said above have their specific indications. for which you would have to undergo a physical examination, then only a suitable medication as per your need can be prescribed to you.
Doctor :   you said you work out well that is a good thing and can help you tone up your body
User :   I know I am just asking in hypothyroidism is it better to adjust thyroid medications to deal with depression that to just add standard antidepressants? Secondly is testoterone indicated for weak erections, belly fat and breast enlargement?
Doctor :   your thyroid medications will be adjusted
Doctor :   thats a better option and a mild anti depressant can be started
Doctor :   and it takes minimum 2- 3 weeks for the results to show
Doctor :   and testosterone is not indicated for weak erections belly fat and breast enlargements
User :   Whatcanbedone forbreast enlargement because I wan to pursue someting?
Doctor :   it can be toned with chest exercise . where muscle building will replace the fat
User :   ok that sounds good, mymain concern was addressing the atypical depression with the the thyroids meds. with an endocrinologist because my family md is so unwilling to test for anything or changeany medicine. TY
User :   Whenever something is not working his first response to to drop it/forget about it
Doctor :   i can understand you
User :   Like he said fisrt drop the synthroid I thought that was foolish!
Doctor :   i see you have requested to speak to our endocrinologist too .. you will soon get an expert opinion
Doctor :   and that will clear all your doubts
User :   Oh yeaI started out with the email request but they said it didn't go through but I guess now it did. But you were great!Thankyou Dr.XXX and have a really good day! XXXXX
Doctor :   you are most welcome
