Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   How can I help you?
User :   i have a concern related to my daughter who is 20 months old
User :   she is teething.....cutting her canines
Doctor :   Ok
User :   she has also gone of her feeds
User :   and has become very irritable
User :   could that be bocz of the teething
User :   are canines very painful when they are cutting through the gums
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Teething can cause pain for a few days, however the level of the pain varies depending on few factors.
Doctor :   It depends on the individual, the position/allignment of teeth, presence of any other problems such as gingivitis and so on.
Doctor :   Hence unless physically examined, I cannot predict the cause for the pain.
User :   i am assuming there is pain simply bcoz she has been very irritable
User :   and not eating her regular food
Doctor :   Normally the symptoms should disappear in a few days.
User :   she wants to eat stuff like curd, salad & jelly
User :   not the regular food that we normally give her
User :   is that ok
Doctor :   I would suggest you to consult a doctor for examination, if the symptoms are persisting for more than a week or if there is excessive crying.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Occasionally, it may be the nature of the child that is making her to do, this. However, unless physically examined for any features of gingivitis or teeth malposition/mal allignment, its difficult to rule these conditions out,
Doctor :   Hence I suggest you to see a doctor-pediatrician, if the symptoms persists.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   yes
User :   what could be the symptoms of jaundice for a child her age
User :   her urine has been a bit yellow for the last 2 days
User :   however she has not been vomitting or anything
Doctor :   Yellow coloured urination can also occur if the urine is concentrated.
User :   she has been drinking quite alot of water though
User :   due to the heat
Doctor :   Presence of yellow tinge in the scleral part of the urine, visible yellowish discoloration of the skin are suggestive of jaundice.
Doctor :   you need to watch for this discoloration in the bright day light.
User :   i ws checking her nails
User :   they were quite pink.....normal
User :   no yellowish tinge
User :   and her palms as well
Doctor :   Artifical lights can produce this yellowish coloration in the normal skin too.
Doctor :   If there are no yellow discoloration on the nail and skin, it may not be a sign of jaundice, unless your daughter is anaemic.
Doctor :   If the yellowish discoloration of the urine persists, then I suggest you to consult the doctor(pediatrician). A doctor will be an appropriate person in differentiating it, than yourself.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   ok
User :   yes
User :   thank you
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   no....thanks a lot
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor :   Bye for now.
User :   Bye
