User :   I am so very concerned. This started sometime earlier this year. It has only happened about three times now. Every night my son showers and he can barely stay in there long enough to get clean. But his penis is in SO much pain after he showers. I make him lie down each time to examine his penis. There are not blisters, no lesions, not sores. But one side of his penis is more sore to the touch than the other. I look closer and it looks like a small cut in one area. It looks slightly, I mean barely swollen in that area. Its normally not the head of the penis but tonight he said the head was sore. It doesn't hurt any other time than when he gets out the shower. You can tell there is a small cut or something down there. What could it be? He is in tremendous pain!!!
Doctor :   hi
User :   hi there. did you see my concern?
User :   I am so worried for my son. He is nine years old
Doctor :   give me moment let me read you query
User :   ok
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   Is there a difficulty in retracting his fore skin
Doctor :   ]From the above complaints i suspect Phimosis
User :   phimosis...can you briefly explain what that is
User :   and how do you get it
User :   he won't let me touch it...its too painful to touch
Doctor :   Its the A condition whereby the foreskin of the penis is too tight.
User :   i mean the penis almost looks totally normal
User :   oh no his foreskin is not too tight at all
Doctor :   Ok
User :   this just started happeninng this year..he is nine
Doctor :   'Might be he is uffering from strictures
Doctor :   The condition were in the ureter has strictures
Doctor :   Typical signs are forced urination , severe pain follwing urination'
User :   ok strictures...I will have to look that up. do they occur sporadically and cause this burning sensation
User :   well thing is he has no problem urinating at all
Doctor :   Are you sure he has no difficulty in urinating
Doctor :   ok
User :   well he did say tonight he does a teeny but he doesn't tell me
User :   because its not that bad...but he said he did. but its not really on his head of hte penis but on the actual penis on one side only
Doctor :   Was he examined by a urologist previusly
User :   he has never been examined. I was going to finally take him to the doctor. its never lasted this long. it usually happens a night or so and then it doesn't happen for a while
Doctor :   Its more common for children under 12 years
Doctor :   He may need an examination by urologist
User :   ok strictures are common for children under 12
User :   ok I will call a urologist tomorrow.
Doctor :   As his symptoms are corresponding to both phimosis and strictures
User :   ooh ok I see
User :   at least I have a name for something
User :   because it makes him cry every night and I feel helpless
Doctor :   Ok'
Doctor :   I understand it very pain full and he i very young to control
User :   yes

Doctor :   Give him plenty of fuids
User :   ok
Doctor :   Is tender cocunut availble in your supermarkets
User :   I will have to go to a health store to see
User :   not in our supermarkets though
Doctor :   thats a good remedy for burning micturation and associated pain it alkanises the urine reducing the irritaion'
Doctor :   Or else give him milk
Doctor :   Avoid food high in uric acid
Doctor :   like meat/ cabbage
User :   ok
Doctor :   ask him to empty his bladder before sleep and not to drink water before bed
Doctor :   Atleast his sleep will not be disturbed
User :   ok I hear you Doctor, but this only happens in water
Doctor :   Yes
Doctor :   but more water dilutes the concentration too
User :   and his sleep is never disturbed. Once he dries and the burning sensation ceases he is ok. he never complains about this only after showering
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   He might require a small procdure
User :   well I guess I will just have to see a urologist or our family doctor. This is not a something due to a narrowing of hte tube carrying the urine (stricture) its strictly topical pain
Doctor :   A day care procedure
User :   its like a cut or infection on his penis
User :   and I can't figure out why a 9 year old would have issues with his penis
Doctor :   They dialate the ureter with a sterile glass tube
User :   i don't think its his ureter at all though. he isn't having issues urinating at all
Doctor :   urine flow will not obstructed in partial blocks
User :   he just urinated before I wrote you and he didn't have any problems...he is sleep now
Doctor :   but will cause drastic pain
Doctor :   Ok thats good
User :   causes drastic pain in water only
User :   ??
Doctor :   Do have him examined only
User :   ??
Doctor :   No
Doctor :   Its due to urinary irritation#
User :   oh ok
Doctor :   Is there anything else i canhelp you with?
User :   I guess that is it. thanks for your help. is there any other condition that affects genitals that I should be aware of
Doctor :   wishing him speedy recovery.
Doctor :   thanks for consulting me
Doctor :   Bye for now
User :   is there any other condistion it could be
User :   I have a minute and 17 seconds left
Doctor :   Probably no other
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   proced
User :   nevermind, just checking to see what else could affect a child's penis that's all
User :   its strange that it only happens in the shower
Doctor :   ok i understand
User :   thank you for your help
Doctor :   Yes as a parent, you feel strange about your kids
Doctor :   more kind of anxious
Doctor :   things will get well soon
Doctor :   Bye for now
