User :   I am an 18 year old male, and I have just realized that I have been suffering from what I think is a rectal prolapse for about 4 and a half years now. I can't remember if the anal protrusion came after my stomach problems started, or if it was there from the beginning, but I know for sure that it has been going on for quite a while now (years). For these 4 and a half years I have been spending 30 minutes to an hour or more in the bathroom every day straining trying to pass what little stool I could. My question is, is this seriously possible that I have been suffering from a rectal prolapse for this long and it hasn't progressed to the stage where it comes out when I sneeze or anything. I think it may be a partial rectal prolapse, but based on what I have read, it should not have stayed at this stage for this long. I am extremely scared of surgery, but I will do whatever it takes to try and get healthy, but if it is at all possible that I might avoid surgery, I would be extremely happy. I have a fear of doctors, and that combined with my fear that they would not find anything and that, as time has gone on, it has probably gotten more and more severe has made me afraid to find out what it is have prevented me from going to the doctor. However, now that I think I know what it is, and I know that I probably need surgery, I will get it done to avoid it progressing to a worse stage. Any advice, counselling, or comfort will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Doctor :   let me read your query
User :   hello . thanks
Doctor :   Where you diagnosed to have rectal prolapse
Doctor :   Or is it a fissure?
User :   i havent been diagnosed, this is just based on what ive read online
User :   does it sound like a fissure?
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Its not possible for rectal prolapse
User :   really?
Doctor :   As such long time would have resulted in complete prolapse
Doctor :   Yes
User :   ok, wow im relieved to hear that
Doctor :   let me ask you few questions to help you better
User :   ok
Doctor :   Do you have pain while passing stools?
User :   yes
Doctor :   And associated bleeding even occasionally
User :   yes
Doctor :   Do you also suffer from hard stools ( constipation)
User :   well i am always constipated, and the stool sometimes are hard and small or really thin and soft
Doctor :   Are you able to visilize a mass in the rectum ( protruding)
User :   yes it comes out when i try to pass stool
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Then the most probable cause is an fissure which is been chronic
Doctor :   You will have to make some lifestyle changes to improve your condition
Doctor :   1. Eat more fibre rich diet
Doctor :   2. Avoid junk foods
Doctor :   3. plenty of fruits and vegetables
Doctor :   4 refrain from smoking and alcohol
Doctor :   5. regular food habits
Doctor :   6 moderate physical work
Doctor :   7 proper sleep
Doctor :   these steps will favour early healing
Doctor :   And medicines are concerned
Doctor :   Should start with SYRUP LACTULOSE 2 tsp every night for 10mdays
User :   ok, is that over the counter or prescription?
Doctor :   And i would also suggest you to get examined by a doctor
Doctor :   ITs an OTC
User :   ok
Doctor :   Because such longstanding cases if untreated will obviously lead to prolapse
Doctor :   Early stages are easily cured by medicines
Doctor :   Once left untreated only sirgery becomes the choice
User :   ok, so even though ive had it for over 4 years, its still not a prolapse?
User :   its been pretty much the same the whole time
Doctor :   When you start follwoing the suggested tips you will reduce strain over the anal muscles and splinther
User :   ok
Doctor :   You will probably be having an minor prolapse which is totally revrsible on follwing the advise
User :   ok, thank you
Doctor :   But for your welbeing i will suggest you to get examined once
User :   ok, i will
User :   so if the mass protrudes does that mean im straining too hard?
Doctor :   And you can also you LIgnicaine jelly for anal application before and after stools
Doctor :   Yes
Doctor :   LIGNOCAINE JELLY comes with an applicator should be applied in anal orifice which reduces the pain during passing stools
User :   ok
Doctor :   The main reason for constipation will be faulty food habits and secondly pain reflex
Doctor :   The more pain the stools gets concentrated and garder
Doctor :   * harder
Doctor :   So start using both Syrup and Jelly will have good results
Doctor :   Its always better to treat earlier
Doctor :   Dont hesitate to visit an doctor
Doctor :   Wishing you a speedy recovery
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me
User :   ok, thanks for the help
Doctor :   Bye for now
User :   bye
