User :   actually i have a swollen area near the left side of ear
User :   it causes problem in eating (chewing)
User :   i am not able to close my jaw.

User :   i went to consult a doctor, who prescribed an antibiotic
Doctor :   any pain/ fever?
User :   Levofloxacin... but i dont find any improvement..
User :   i had some pain till yesterday it is alright
User :   there is slight fever
User :   very little to say..
Doctor :   Any change in the size of the swelling since you first noticed it?
User :   it is the same

Doctor :   do you have difficulty in opening the mouth as well/ only closing?
User :   not much while opening... but it pains while eating anything

User :   3 days
Doctor :   From what you have told me it could be either of two things- a parotid gland swelling(salivary gland)
Doctor :   or it could be a swelling of your TMJ- that is your temporal bone- mandible joint
Doctor :   are you taking any other medicine other than the levfoxacin?
User :   yes hicet-DC

User :   both of these were prescribed by the doctor
Doctor :   My advice to you is see a dentist- to get the swelling examined as it is persisting in spite of the medication

User :   does it have anything to do with ears
User :   as i was planning to consult an ENT specialist.
Doctor :   as the swelling is in the front of your ear- and it is causing difficulty in chewing
User :   the swelling is just below the left ear
Doctor :   in the front- towards your face/ back?
User :   towards the face

Doctor :   the two possiblities are the salivary gland/ tmj
Doctor :   for a tmj problem- the person to consult is a dentist
Doctor :   for a salivary gland problem- a dentist/ general surgeon will be able to treat you

User :   or consult dentist immediately
Doctor :   no it is better you see a dentist- as three days of antibiotics has had no effect on the swelling
