I was snowboarding this weekend and did split in the lift line . Felt a distinct pop and now have major bruising and swelling (like a fat very visible black and blue thigh ) in my inner thigh down to mid thigh. Pain with lateral movement but not back and forth. Icing it and using compression pants and taking Advil . Anything else I should do.

Ahh, Sorry, then an x-ray of your hip would be a better bet, but the chances of a fracture are remote.
So don't push for one unless the pain refuses to settle down

true, Ligaments and tendons tend to repair themselves unless they are completely torn from their attachment

A complete tear is so excruciating you would pass out. The other thing is the tendons between the hip and the knee tend to bunch up into a hard ball or selling
So if you feel something akin to a knot then you need to seek help.
Ok will monitor I did almost throw up from the pain when it first happened but now it just throbs a bit . Hard to tell if a ball or jus swelling right now . Also was to be on a one hour flight flight tomorrow am then 2 hour flight on Wednesday . Is there any risk due to the extensive bruising ?

No, there is no risk. It will be very uncomfortable though
I would suggest you get to a local ER and let them give you some pain meds for the flight
They can get the x-rays too

I think Urgent care should be faster, otherwise and ortho, if you can get to one in time, then they would be superior.

I would wait SEVERAL weeks
to resume your normal workouts.
Instead i would do basic light stretches and some Range of motion work so as not to allow the tendons and ligaments to shrink and breakdown.
Ok I was afraid of that . So I am icing the area every 3 hours . When would I apply heat?
I normally like doing this 20 minues of ice, followed by 20 minutes of a heating pad
That can be done 2 to 3 times a day

Just make sure you give your hip and leg plenty of time to rest
and things should get better when the swelling goes down
till then you want to make sure the wrenching furing the accident with cause a small fracture, hence the x-ray

Hmm, if you already had limited mobility, i would say yes. but since your a rather physically active person (skiiing and all), ii'm not sure you need it
That having been said there is nor harm in going to a therapist a few weeks from now and getting some advice.
