Doctor:Hello
Doctor:How can I help you?
User:Dr., since one week i am suffering with dry cough..
Doctor:I see
User:especially in the night..
Doctor:Have you taken any treatment for it as yet?
User:In day times, not much
User:no dr..
User:so please suggest any syrup or tablet dr. where i can quick recovery
Doctor:Ok
Doctor:A few more questions
Doctor:Do you have a fever?
User:no
Doctor:And ae you bringing up and sputum at all when you cough?
Doctor:No fever. Ok. Then I would suggest that we avoid antibiotics for now
User:not every time, very small in quantity
User:ok
Doctor:My preference is that you take syrup TusQ during the day, Morning and Afternoon 1 tablespoon
Doctor:At Night, You may take Syrup Corex or Syrup TusQ DX, one tablespoon before bed
User:ok, and at night ?
Doctor:Never take COrex or TusQ DX during the Day or when you have to drive.
Doctor:They will make you drowsy
User:ok then, please suggest common med dr, where i can use in day and in the night as well..
User:can't i use TusQ in the night?
Doctor:Hmmm, Syrup Ascoril would do, but it wouldn't really be that effective at night. The nice thing about the DX or the Corex is the presence of mild narcotic meds which suppresse cough very powerfully
User:ok, what about Benadryl dr?
User:r u there dr?
Doctor:My problem with Benadryl is that the active ingredient Diphenhydramine can cause confusion and even agitation in some people
Doctor:I have prescribed it in the past and had some odd results
Doctor:But technically, it should be fine
Doctor:If this cough lasts more than a week from now, we will have to consider getting a chest x-ray and starting nebulizations (inhalation Therapy)
User:ok then i will go with TusQ
User:and also my one and half year old baby has also cough, started from today morning.. which med will be better for him?
Doctor:Hmm, I would be much happier if you avoided any medication for now, instead try steam inhalation therapy
User:can it be done in home?
Doctor:Absolutely!
User:how..
Doctor:Just head to a good pharmacy and buy a ventilation hood
Doctor:It is like a small plastic roof that you can place above the baby
User:ok..
Doctor:you place water in a nebulizer and the steam builds up below the hood allowing the baby to breath it in
Doctor:You can also buy a simple nebulizer and hold the mask up to the baby
User:ok dr thank you very much
