User:If you had oral sex and then next day a cold sore appeared, I'm worried that I could have infected her
Doctor:It is possible but needs further testing
User:I didn't have any white dots on my lips until later the next day
Doctor:I see
User:And there was no itching or anything that night
Doctor:Are you actively suffering from a cold sore now?
User:Just now but it's scanned over and healing
Doctor:are you having a oral lesion now?
Doctor:on your mouth?
Doctor:are there any fluid filled blisters around the lips and mouth?
User:No fluid whatsoever
User:There was no fluid. I had 3 little white dots later the next day and I didn't have dots or blisters when I had oral sex
Doctor:Have you been diagnosed with cold sore already or you are just assuming that it could be a possibility?
User:Yes it is definitely a cold sore. I get them maybe once or twice a year
Doctor:all right
Doctor:then there are chances of having infected her
User:How will I know
Doctor:You need to get your partner tested
Doctor:You could probably get a HSV DNA PCR Test done for her
User:What's that
Doctor:It is a test done to identify the virus if present
User:Will we know immediately
Doctor:Does she have any active oral or lip lesions now?
Doctor:Is she showing symptoms?
User:None at all
Doctor:oh, I see
Doctor:A rapid HSV-2 POCKit test is available for testing too
Doctor:This test can be done in the absence of symptoms as well to check if there are any antibodies towards the virus in her
Doctor:So, you can get her tested for the same to check for presence infection
Doctor:all right?
Doctor:are you following me?
User:Can I buy a test
Doctor:You need to check with the pharmacist for that
Doctor:I doubt you could buy a test
Doctor:You could try your luck
Doctor:It would be ideal to contact your primary care physician about the same
Doctor:that should definitely help
