User:I need information on treatment for Bronchiectasis

User:My Dad has been diagonsed with the same
User:What is the treatment available for the same?
Doctor:Firstly if the cause is known, it may be treated
Doctor:Then symptomatic treatment for symptoms is given
Doctor:During acute exacerbations antibiotics are given
Doctor:If there is difficulty in breathing bronchodilator therapy is given
User:cause is unknown, in scan reports, damage appears along the lower side of both lungs

Doctor:What symptoms does he have?
User:while climbing stairs, he gets Out of Breath
User:so has to take a pause while climbing stairs
Doctor:Any coughing episodes?
User:yes
User:esp while sleeping in night, lot of cough
Doctor:If the coughing episodes are more than 2 - 3 times a day, inhalers will be needed

User:yes...my dad is using inhalor

Doctor:Otherwise one option is to surgically remove the damaged lung

User:is Surgery a good option at age of 66
