User:I need information on treatment for Bronchiectasis
Doctor:What information do you need?
User:My Dad has been diagonsed with the same
User:What is the treatment available for the same?
Doctor:Firstly if the cause is known, it may be treated
Doctor:Then symptomatic treatment for symptoms is given
Doctor:During acute exacerbations antibiotics are given
Doctor:If there is difficulty in breathing bronchodilator therapy is given
User:cause is unknown, in scan reports, damage appears along the lower side of both lungs
Doctor:What symptoms does he have?
User:while climbing stairs, he gets Out of Breath
User:so has to take a pause while climbing stairs
Doctor:Any coughing episodes?
User:esp while sleeping in night, lot of cough
Doctor:If the coughing episodes are more than 2 - 3 times a day, inhalers will be needed
User:so not able to sleep dad is using inhalor
Doctor:This means his breathing is getting impaired
Doctor:Is his symptoms controlled with it?
User:before dinner every night, my dad uses inhalor
User:some nights yes, but some night no
Doctor:When there are days thatthe coughing is worse and associated with sputum
Doctor:then get the sputum examined and if positive for bacterial infection, he will need short course of antibiotics

User:Still I wanted to get a second opinon
User:yes, used antibioctics for some days, but now even antibiotics looks useless
Doctor:Yes antibiotics are to tide the acute crisis
Doctor:they mostly work for short time only
Doctor:Otherwise one option is to surgically remove the damaged lung
Doctor:This step is not for everyone
User:is Surgery a good option at age of 66
Doctor:and sometimes symptoms start after surgery is as well
Doctor:The anaethetist doctor will be able to tell after seeing the medical condition of your father
Doctor:Apart from this he may drink pure drinking water
Doctor:to avoid unnecessary use of antibiotics for other reasons
Doctor:And physiotherapy increases lung capacity

User:yes, dad does lot of walking for this purpose

Doctor: XXXXXXX is a type of yoga
Doctor:Lots of research has been done to see its effectiveness in bronchiectasis
