Doctor:or diabetes?
User:Yes im 26 and femalw
User:No problems in the past, no high blood pressure and no diabetes
Doctor:Please explain to me what happened when you first experience this
User:Well its been on and off since i was 13 i used to think i was going blind. This time around seems worse tho. I was just sitting at work and felt a bit funny then it just never went away and got worse and worse. Now i dont feel on the planet
Doctor:what were you doing, what was the situation like,
Doctor:were you under any sort of mental or physical stress when this first happened?
User:Not really it just came out of the blue
Doctor:If you don't mind, I would like to point out something to you
User:Yes of course
Doctor:You are now feeling that you are going to die, but you have had this experience since the age of 13
Doctor:if that were to happen, don't you think it would have happened in these last 13 years
User:Its worse now tho and feels like its definitely going to happen
Doctor:So, now I would like you to get that particular thought out of your mind
Doctor:I can understand what you are saying
Doctor:I understand what you are going through as well
User:What do you think it is?
Doctor:What type of doctor did you see for this problem?
User:My gp at the doctors surgery
Doctor:I will answer your question
Doctor:I need more information
User:Ok what do you need?
Doctor:Can you tell me anything more about yourself
Doctor:and the type of thoughts you get
Doctor:what kind of education you have
Doctor:and what is the nature of your work
Doctor:how you get along with friends and family members
Doctor:your beliefs
Doctor:Your fears
User:Well im from newcastle in england. I have a university degree in business management and work for an insurance company which i love. Im on the sick at the minute tho through this problem. My mam died when i was 19 but ive got a big family, loads of friends and a lovely boyfriend. My main fear at the minute is dying
Doctor:Well, I will tell you this, You are not going to die
Doctor:not right now
User:Really how do you know?
Doctor:everyone will die of old age,
User:Yeh thats what i want i dont want to die yet
Doctor:I know that because, the problem you are having is of thought process and particular areas of brain related
User:So what is it i have?
Doctor:I would like you to answer my other questions as well
Doctor:about your beliefs and fears
User:I believe in god and that my mam is watching over me. I fear being alone and death
Doctor:Anything else you can tell me about your thoughts
Doctor:what type of thoughts crop up in your mind randomly?
User:Not really at the minute all im thinking about is that im going to die
User:I dont know really nothing out of the ordinary
User:Do you think i have a brain tumour?
Doctor:Your particular type of anxiety has a name
Doctor:it is called death anxiety
Doctor:I do not think you have any brain tumour
User:So it is anxiety i have?
User:Could i possibly be serious?
Doctor:however, it is prudent to consult a neurologist once and get a CT or MRI scan done to rule out
Doctor:Yes, it is a real thing
User:what is this spaciness?
Doctor:anxiety is not something that is just unreal
Doctor:spaciness and feeling disconnected with the world and feeling unreal are all abnormalities of the brain function
User:So what is causing that? The anxiety?
Doctor:The anxiety itself is due to abnormal brain activity
Doctor:so these are all interconnected
Doctor:the human brain is incomprehensibly complex
User:So could it be something serious?
Doctor:I don't think so
Doctor:your symptoms do not suggest anything sinister
User:I just feel like im going to die any second
Doctor:however, I would still like to rule out some functional disturbances
User:My doctor checked behind my eyes, would that have picked up any problems?
Doctor:I completely understand what you are feeling my dear
Doctor:I assure you, you are not going to die from this
User:What are functional disturbances?
Doctor:Functional disturbances are the ones that arise because of some neurochemical imbalances
Doctor:these are not due to any tumour or structural abnormality
User:How do you check for these?
Doctor:that is why they are called functional disturbances
Doctor:We check if there are any structural abnormalities
Doctor:if there are none, then the defacto assumption is, functional disturbances
Doctor:You can get an fMRI (Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) done
Doctor:along with an EEG to see if the electrical activity of the brain is normal or not
Doctor:1. Please consult a neurologist
Doctor:2. Stop worrying about this too much
Doctor:You will be alright with proper medicines
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me
Doctor:bye for now
