User:hi..
User:i have PCOD
User:am take glycomet-1g tablet Will this tablet affects to conceive
Doctor:Metformin (glycomet) doesn't affect chances of pregnancy.
User:?
User:thank u
Doctor:On the other hand, it helps in making the period regular and help you conceive.
Doctor:However if should also inform your doctor about your intention.
User:Is there any permanent solution for PCOD?
Doctor:If needed, the doctor can start other medicines to improve chances of pregnancy.
Doctor:I would only say that PCOD is a treatable condition.
Doctor:The duration of treatment varies amongst individuals.
Doctor:A few need the medications only for few months, some need it for years.
User:i have this problem from the past 2 years
Doctor:May I know your current height and weight?
User:height-168cms weight-62.5kg
Doctor:Are your cycles regular now?
User:am taking tablet now. so its regular
Doctor:Besides metformin what other medications are you on?
User:if i stop taking tablets it will be irregular
User:nothing else
Doctor:Have you tried stopping the medicine?
User:i used to take this tablet for 6 months then i go for scan.
Doctor:Ok
User:after that, for 6 months periods will be regular. Then again my periods will be irregular.
Doctor:Ok
Doctor:Let me brief you.
Doctor:PCOD is a chronic medical condition; just like diabetes and high blood pressure.
Doctor:Since the cause why it occurs is unknown, we do not have a well known scientifically proven drug to permanently cure it.
Doctor:Like I said earlier, a few women were able to get back normal periods and conceive
Doctor:even the cyst disappeared after few months of medications.
Doctor:But some were not that lucky.
Doctor:But in both sets of patients, the good news is
Doctor:there are medications available to treat the problems arising from PCOD.
Doctor:Since you intend to conceive now,
Doctor:please try for few months.
Doctor:You can discuss with your gynecologist
Doctor:she can add some more medicines to help you succeed.
Doctor:You can get the condition reassessed after pregnancy.
Doctor:Am I clear to you?
User:till pregnancy how long will i continue to take this tablet ?
Doctor:Metformin is not an absolute requirement in pregnancy. But since it has its effect in reducing insulin resistance and as pregnancy tends to increase insulin
Doctor:you may need it
Doctor:if your blood sugar goes up.
Doctor:In simple terms, metformin will be necessary if your blood sugars goes up during pregnancy.
User:your have cleared all my doubts.thank u doctor
Doctor:Welcome.
Doctor:Do you have any other questions?
User:1 more ques.
Doctor:Proceed.
User:normally for gents, how many sperms should have for pregnancy?(i need the sperm count)
Doctor:It is more dependent on number of actively / progressively motile sperms.
User:could you please tell the count?
Doctor:If I had to look only at the sperm count and not other parameters
Doctor:then I would say minimum of 20million sperms per ml.
Doctor:But as I said earlier if the count is below 20 million and the percentage of progressively motile sperms are high
Doctor:then it will be sufficient too.
Doctor:It's much easier to answer if the semen analysis report is optimal or not
User:ok thank u
Doctor:than explain about the sperm counts.
User:its enough sir.
Doctor:Do you have any more query?
User:last question
User:i had viral fever before 2 months
User:since then i am havng leg pain.
Doctor:Ok
User:may i know the reason for it
Doctor:The leg pain may be related to post infection. But if all other post infection symptoms have settled down
User:am having the pain even if i walk short distance topo
Doctor:then there may be other causes
Doctor:It should be investigated.
Doctor:Other causes for instances.
Doctor:Glycomet can cause muscle pains.
Doctor:The pain may be due to intermittent claudication.
Doctor:or due to mechanical strains on muscles and bones.
Doctor:If you haven't seen the doctor, I would suggest you to consult them and get yourself examined.
Doctor:This pain needs to be addressed.
Doctor:Have you followed?
User:could you please suggest any medicines for that?
Doctor:Treatment depends on the cause.
Doctor:You need to talk about this pain with your treating doctor.
User:k thank u.
User:no more queries.....
User::)
Doctor:Since the cause of this pain can be many without evaluation treatment is not logical.
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor:Bye for now.
Doctor:Are you there?\
User:ya
Doctor:Hi
