User:Hello Doctor
User:Suffering from Constipation since last many months
Doctor:May I know how frequently do you pass stool?
Doctor:I would also like to know your age and gender?

User:I am 43 yrs of age, 5'6" weigh 97 Kg. On an average twice a day I go to toilet but it takes long time and still not staisfied.

Doctor:Since when do you have this issue?
User:last 6 to 7 months
Doctor:Have you seen a doctor?
Doctor:Do you have any other medical illness?
Doctor:Are you there?
User:I have seen doctors both allopathy & homeopathy
User:i do not have any other medical illness - blodd pressure 90/140
Doctor:Are you on any regular medicines?
User:presently I am taking livoluk as advised by our company physician

User:i was also advised to do a regular exercise. I t has helped to some extent but still not staisfied
Doctor:Let me brief you.
Doctor:The amount of stool and its consistency is based on the type of food you eat, the amount of fluid you take and your physical activities.
Doctor:Less commonly some medical conditions will result in constipation.
Doctor:If you are not eating the proper diet and not drink sufficient fluids then you will end up with constipation.
Doctor:Are you following?
Doctor:So the primary treatment is to change your diet.
Doctor:You need to add plenty of fibre rich food such as green vegetables, whole grains and ceraals in your diet.
Doctor:In addition to it supplement with atleast 6-8 glass of water every day.
Doctor:I also suggest my patients to add all type of fruits to it.
Doctor:Banana has stool softening properties. It has immensely helped my patients with constipation.
User:i am a vegetarian and generally have green vegetables in diet, water consuomption is also advised by you
Doctor:You can take one before bed and one as you wake up.
User:I will try banana as advised
Doctor:The fibre content in your diet should be maximum as it forms the bulk of stool.
Doctor:Along with these changes, I would suggest you to start the day with a glass of warm water and a banana.
Doctor:Exercise (atleast an early morning walk) is preferred.
Doctor:They should help you pass stools.

Doctor:then you can consult a gastroenterologist
Doctor:who can investigate for other causes including thyroid problems.
Doctor:Since you are over weight, it is advisable to get your thyroid and blood sugar checked again.
User:I think this was suggested to me and thyroid test was negative
Doctor:Low thyroid hormones and abnormal sugar can alter your stool habits too.
Doctor:If it was tested and negative, then that is ok
Doctor:Get the diet and exercise habit going
Doctor:before consulting a gastroenterologist
User:should I do the thyroid test and blood sugar and consult you again
