User :   I'm a 38 year old female with no history of medical problems beyond migraines. I've had a permanently distended abdomen for over a month now, made worse by eating but without gas, without "pain" (except the pressure of distention), without BM problems, and with back pain (started as intermittent 5 mos ago, misdiagnoses as menstrual, and evolved to being permanent). Doctors can't figure out what's wrong, more tests to come. All tests to date show nothing. In the meantime, I now have intracranial pressure for hours each day, also made worse when I eat. How could eating possible cause intracranial pressure on top of the distention? I am very concerned, and it is taking docs quite a while to figure this out. I cannot eat without pain, but I am hungry.
Doctor :   HI,
Doctor :   May i know your symptoms suggesting of intracranial tension ?
User :   Hello
User :   Pressure on top of head pushing into sinuses, neck, teeth and ears - very heavy pressure
Doctor :   Do you have vomiting ?
User :   No vomiting
Doctor :   Well vomiting is the major and first sign of increased intracranial pressure
Doctor :   and more over there are no direct connections with the sinus , teeth and ears where the intracranial pressure is reflected
User :   I'm not sure what this is then. It is nothing I've ever experienced before and it's enormous pressure.
User :   Definitely not a headache.
Doctor :   have you been diagnosed for the same ( raised ICT )
Doctor :   and yes head ache is a second must symptom of raised ICT
User :   No. I have mentioned the major head pressure, feeling almost like my head is being vacuumed in from the inside, but no name has been given to it.
User :   The pressure is most at the top of my head
User :   It is very scary.
Doctor :   do you get congestion in your eyes ?
User :   We stopped going to the ER because each time I have an episode, they can't find a cause - including of the distention.
Doctor :   Do you get congestion in your eyes ?
User :   No
Doctor :   ok it could be tension headache
Doctor :   the symptoms are favorable
Doctor :   and about the abdomen
Doctor :   there are only two chances where distention can be expected in a non pregnant abdomen
User :   My head doesn't hurt though. It is just very uncomfortable pressure. Has been going on for a few weeks, and the past few days has been every day for hours and hours at a time.
Doctor :   i stil do consider it probably to be tension head ache
User :   Meaning it doesn't hurt like a headache, which I usually get frequently.
Doctor :   i agree , thats what different in tension headache
User :   Ok. What could I possibly do for it?
User :   And why would it increase with eating?
Doctor :   have you used any medications for the same ?
User :   No. I wouldn't know what to take. I guess I can try standard tylenol. Seems strange for what feels like a vacuum.
Doctor :   tylenol may help but you need a psychiatrist help here
Doctor :   and the distension of the abdomen can be seen either due to fluid or due to the gas in the abdomen
Doctor :   may i know what tests have you got done for the same ?
User :   Yes, so far CT scan shows nothing. Also pelvic ultrasound, abdominal and chest xrays, bloodwork, celiac panel, abdominal ultrasound
Doctor :   have you got the scan during the distension ?
User :   The distention is permanent, so yes,
Doctor :   how do you describe normal abdomen ?
User :   It was intermittent, but literally one day I woke up, my abdomen popped out like it was doing intermittently, and it hasn't gone back down since.
User :   I have a very flat muscular stomach normally.
User :   It happened in seconds.
User :   I am not overweight.
Doctor :   do you work out now ?
User :   I have not been able to because of the pain I've been in since then.
User :   I was also not feeling well with the intermittent distention, so it had become sporadic.
User :   When I eat it gets much worse with lower back pain, but it never goes away completely.
Doctor :   ok, i would recommended you to consult a psychiatrist
Doctor :   he may be of some help here
