User :   I'm 26 year old male who developed a pulmonary embolism after a enduring a traumatic accident on OCT 30 2009, For the past month I have been smoking around 6 cigarettes a day and now have developed a deep cough

User :   which produces some phlegm but I have no other symptoms

User :   Only mild wheezing and have been smoking on and off for 5 years

User :   never more than ten cigs in one day though

Doctor :   Ok then the most probable cause is bronchitis
Doctor :   Its just an inflamtion triggered due to cigarette smoke
Doctor :   And is directly related to smoking
User :   Is there any increased risk in another PE related to smoking

Doctor :   Pulmonary embolism is the process where the blood clot from some where else in the body is shifted in circulation and blocks the pulmonary artery#
User :   No relation to smoking or increased risk in reocurrance due to smoking

Doctor :   Smoking though will increase chances for formation of plaques in the vessels
Doctor :   Not pulmonary embolism
Doctor :   There is high risk for heart attacks
