User :   hello. 3 year old boy has had fever for 3 days. doctor saw him, said it was stomach virus and just give tylenol for children. However, there's a bubbly-like feeling & sound in his abdomen, almost like very small, tiny convulsions occurring about a second apart
Doctor :   Hi
User :   hi, doctor. thank you for taking the caht
User :   chat
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   boy has never had fever this many days
Doctor :   How many convulsions had he had till now ?
User :   convulsions is not the best term, but not sure what is. Just very tiny movements, like bubbles, which you can feel when pressing your hand against his abdomen, almost like bad digestion or something...
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   he is complaining of a tummy ache, and that's when you can ehar or fel these tiny little bubble-like movements
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Not to worry.
Doctor :   It can be a stomach flu.
User :   he threw up twice in the last few days. But does not have diarrhea.
Doctor :   Please let m eknow a few more things to help you better ?
User :   of course
Doctor :   What is the highest temp. that he has got in these 3 days ?
User :   104 degrees when he's sleeping. he's not as hot when he's awake
User :   slept all day long yesterday
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   I would be a bit concerned about that , if it is constantly 104.
Doctor :   Do you see any fluctuations in the temp. chart ?
User :   not constantly 104, just the highest he's reached... though he hits 102 to 104 each time he sleeps
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Please follow the same medication as prescribed , but if it doesnt decrease after monday, Then I would suggest a few steps : Doctor :   1. A stool routine examination for any infection

Doctor :   2. Urine routine examination for any UTI.
Doctor :   As of now , please do give him cool water sponging along with tylenol syrup.
Doctor :   May I know if you are confirming he is not having febrile seizures, but just a small bubbly feeling ?
User :   Thank you doctor. Tylenol for children was pulled from the shelves across the usa. Is triaminic for kids similar? It's also acetominophen
Doctor :   If its Acetaminophen , it is quite safe,
User :   not a seizure, just little - almost like clicking a finger against your arm
Doctor :   Ok, And he doesnt have a history of seizures in the past , if I am right ?
User :   that's right, no seizures of any kind
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Then not to worry about the neurological component of involvement.
User :   thank you doctor. since this is going on four days, how long might it continue?
Doctor :   Please give him lot of fluids, water, electrolytes , juices . This will help him out and give him bland diet.
Doctor :   Usually stomach flus subside in 4-5 days or a max. one week.
If it continues for more than 5 days , i would recommend lab. test examination for stool, urine to rule out any major infection .
User :   If need be on Tuesday, Day 5+, do we go to the regular pediatrician, or should we see specifically a pediatric gastroenterologist?
Doctor :   Regular pediatrician would be enough, but if you have a ped. gastro then it would be excellent.
Doctor :   Just last question ?
User :   In Manhattan, we ought to be able to find the specialist. Thank you so very much Doctor!
User :   last question from you or from us?
Doctor :   Is the bubbly sound exactly in the abdomen or chest ?
User :   It's definitely the tummy, above the bellybutton, below the rib cage
Doctor :   And how many vomitings had he had and were they violent , to rule out encephalitis or meningitis ?
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   That is very helpful.
Doctor :   Not to worry then,
Doctor :   Please wait for a day and continue the treatment and if doesnt reduce then go ahead and see a ped. gastro.
User :   they were not violent. in fact, quite easy on the boy. just threw up, and then he was fine again... barely cried.
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Not to worry then.
User :   Thanks, Dr. Tosh!
Doctor :   Thank you for consulting me
Doctor :   Take care , bye for now.
User :   Thank you! Bye bye.
