User :   now my big toe is numb/tingles, when i rub across my ankle i get pins and needles in my foot and toes.
Doctor :   ok
User :   is this normal?
User :   what should i do?
Doctor :   For Health purposes please provide your Age, Gender, Location, Occupation, Marital status, Height, Weight and Waist circumference.
User :   also when i point my toes away from me i get the same tingling sensation in my foot
User :   i am 28 m usa, im in sales, married 6'4'' 220 lbs and i have a 38 in. waist
User :   any ideas?
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   Do you have similar complaints in the past?
User :   no this is the first time
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   any other symptoms like pain?
User :   sore, but not swollen
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   pain even in resting condition?
User :   no pain, just occasional numb toes, or tingling in a resting position
User :   when i wake up in the morning my toes tingle as well
Doctor :   ok
User :   i ice it daily
Doctor :   since how long there is swelling?
User :   there is no swelling
Doctor :   was there any swelling ever?
User :   there was very minor swelling 2 weeks ago when the injury happened but that was gone in the first 2 days
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   dont worry
Doctor :   have you gone for X ray?
User :   no
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   it seems that there is some small nerve root which is compressing
Doctor :   may be due to slight dislocation?
User :   oh no
Doctor :   but it is not severe
Doctor :   nothing to be alarmed
User :   should i get crutches?
User :   what should i do?
Doctor :   or the other condition could be that there is some ligament injury which might compress the nerve root
User :   ok
User :   are there any questions that i could answer to you or tests that i can do to provide you more information?
Doctor :   but as there is no pain and swelling so
Doctor :   it seems that it should not be a serious one
User :   when i point my toes i lose sensation in my toes and it tingles
Doctor :   i can understand that
User :   if i rub with my fingers along the front of my ankle where my foot and leg meet i get a shooting nerve/tingling in my toes and foot.
User :   i am to play in volleyball tournament in 2 weeks. should i play?
Doctor :   in my opinion you should not go for it
Doctor :   as it may trigger some injury
User :   am i able to brace it or tape it maybe?
User :   what should i do now? should i xray, use crutches, a brace, a cast?
Doctor :   you can go for X ray to rule out any fracture
Doctor :   or any other complications
Doctor :   I mean a hair line fracture
User :   do you think i may have a fracture?
Doctor :   i dont think
Doctor :   but still it is better to confirm
User :   ive never been hurt. what should i expect while getting xrays
User :   will the doctor assign me cast, plaster, crutches?
Doctor :   no plaster
User :   oh good
Doctor :   X ray will rule out any possibility of hair line fracture
User :   if there is a hairline fracture, how is it treated?
Doctor :   then it will need immobilisation of the toe
Doctor :   a small plaster type cast
User :   my toes is not injured...its my ankle
Doctor :   sorry ankle
User :   if i have a plaster cast will i be using crutches as well?
User :   oh no this is all so scary
Doctor :   dont worry
Doctor :   i believe that there will not be any fracture
User :   i have more questions
User :   if it is a small dislocation, what is is it treated
Doctor :   see, a true dislocation cannot be there as per your symptoms
User :   so what do you think it is?
Doctor :   in my opinion it is a ligament or muscle injury which has also affected nerve partially
Doctor :   as there is no pain and swelling
User :   so how should i treat that
User :   which ligament is it?
Doctor :   I can suggest you good treatment but the main thing is to rule out any dislocation and fracture
User :   ok please suggest treatment
User :   i am going to get xrays today
Doctor :   ligament can be any one from the two groups lateral and medial collateral ligaments
User :   what else should i do
Doctor :   good
User :   ok
User :   please suggest how i should be treating this tho
User :   i want to get back on the court as soon as i can
User :   im AAAAAAA by the way
Doctor :   treatment will consist of applying some soothening skin balm
User :   ok what else
Doctor :   and crap bandage will help
Doctor :   you should stop manipulating your toe for weeks
Doctor :   and donot go for any sternous work
Doctor :   take as much rest as possible
User :   i want to play volleyball again
User :   how should i go about that
Doctor :   you will need to take rest for some time then i will be able to judge clearly that whether it is a ligament or a muscle injury
Doctor :   but keep one thing in mind that you will need atleast 4 weeks of rest
Doctor :   or it can lead to some serious injury
User :   should i use crutches?
User :   should i have a brace or a splint?
Doctor :   at present use crape bandage only
Doctor :   come back with x ray report
User :   whats a crape bandage?
Doctor :   it is a brown coloured bandage
Doctor :   you will get it at pharmacy shop
User :   how should i wrap it on?
Doctor :   yes
User :   how do i apply it?
Doctor :   cover the ankle completely
Doctor :   along with the foot
Doctor :   it is a long bandage
User :   ok
User :   im scared to get xrays
Doctor :   it will provide the necessary heat to heal the injury
Doctor :   you can wait for one week and see if there is any improvement, if not then you will need to take X rays
User :   should i be using ice on my ankle?
Doctor :   no
Doctor :   dont try it
User :   why
User :   in the usa everyone says that i should ice
Doctor :   inflammation if any will need some warmth to speed up the recovery
Doctor :   if you will use ice then recovery will not be fast
Doctor :   ask the doctor
Doctor :   dont believe on anyone
Doctor :   dont experiment
User :   im going to get crutches too
Doctor :   ok
User :   i feel like i should be in a cast
User :   im so nervous
Doctor :   dont be worried
Doctor :   everything will be aqlright
Doctor :   *alright
User :   what cast should i use?
Doctor :   first go for X ray
User :   should i go now?
Doctor :   for X ray yes?
Doctor :   Is there any thing else I can help you with?
Doctor :   was i able to clearify all your doubts?
User :   not yet
User :   which ligament to you think i injured
User :   do you have any other specific questions to aske me so that you can have a more accurate diagnosis
Doctor :   in terms of ligament i will say that lateral collateral ligament may have injured
Doctor :   regarding the accurate diagnosis, it is difficult to make in such cases that too without any investigations
Doctor :   but i believe that you have either ligament or muscle injury
User :   can i do some tests on myself to give you accurate information
User :   have you seen the boot/walking cast things before?
Doctor :   yes
User :   should i get one of those
Doctor :   why are you hurried
Doctor :   you donot have any serious symptoms
Doctor :   the numbness and tingling that you have will take some time to clear
Doctor :   dont worry too much
Doctor :   X ray will knock out the possibility of the fracture and dislocation
Doctor :   then only two things will remain
User :   i want to try to play in 2 weeks
Doctor :   muscle and ligament injury
User :   are there ways that i can speed up recovery.
User :   are there bracing methods i can use to help me play
Doctor :   It is my sincere suggestion to you that plz dont try this till doctor recommends, if there is some nerve compression or ligament injury it will worsen and finally the last treatment option will be surgery only
Doctor :   even your performance during your play will not be good
User :   im not happy with this
User :   are there ways to strap it or completely not use it for 2 weeks
Doctor :   you can get casts for two weeks and see if there is any improvement
Doctor :   but i will not recommend you playing
User : do i do casts? is that something i can apply myself?
User :   should i use crutches?
Doctor :   no you cannot apply yourself
User :   ok
Doctor :   you will need to visit the clinic to get it applied
User :   can i just ask for a cast at the clinic?
User :   what kind of cast do i ask for
Doctor :   now a days only prefilled casts are used
Doctor :   you can ask for it
Doctor :   did you follow?
Doctor :   are you with me?
User :   no i dont know what that is
User :   yes i am here
Doctor :   means?
Doctor :   you dont know about prefilled casts?
User :   no what is that
Doctor :   it is a manufactured orthopaedic cast
Doctor :   i it is directly applied
Doctor :   no need to wait for 30 minutes
User :   is it plastic?
User :   is there wrap around it or is it velcro
Doctor :   it is wrap around
Doctor :   but it will harden itself in few minutes
Doctor :   and then will allow the immobilisation
Doctor :   healing the injury
User :   are crutches hard to use?
Doctor :   you will need complete immobilisation for which a short leg cast is best suited
User :   does it cover my toes and my knee
Doctor :   it will not cover your knee
Doctor :   but greater toe will need to be covered
Doctor :   partially
User :   will i need to use crutches or a wheelchair
Doctor :   no
Doctor :   did you follow?
Doctor :   are you there?
User :   yes
User :   will i need crutches or a wheelchair?
Doctor :   no you will not need
User :   how can i walk with this cast
Doctor :   it is a below knee cast so that you will be able to fold your knee
Doctor :   and can walk but not normally
Doctor :   you can put weight on the cast as you dont have any fracture so there is no problem
Doctor :   was i able to clearify all your doubts?
Doctor :   Is there any thing else I can help you with?
User :   now my toes are throbbing
User :   and when i stand i get pain on the inside bump of my ankle
Doctor :   after getting the cast it will not be a problem
Doctor :   youe symptoms will be relieved
Doctor :   *your
User :   do you think i should get this cast or am i being dumb about this
Doctor :   you should get cast
User :   im sorry im being like this but i am scared for this
Doctor :   its not a problem
Doctor :   was i able to clearify all your doubts?
User :   can u tell me how to perform any other tests to give you better information
User :   i wish you could apply cast to me now. do you know how to apply cast?
Doctor :   i know
Doctor :   but how to apply
Doctor :   no need of any specific investigations
User :   my friend is on the phone with me now. he is offering me his crutches. should i say no?
Doctor :   yes say no
User :   ok
User :   why are crutches bad?
Doctor :   they are not bad but you dont need them
Doctor :   if you think then you can try them
User :   ok i dont think that i will
User :   why is a muscle or ligament causing numbness in my foot?
Doctor :   As i told you due to some nerve compression
User :   ok, i am worried that i will lose nerve function in my foot completely
Doctor :   it is not so
Doctor :   Is there any thing else I can help you with?
User :   are there any other doctors that i can talk to?
Doctor :   you can login again after some time
User :   any that specialize with athletes and sports medicine?
Doctor :   you can ask
User :   are you the only one there?
Doctor :   if available then it will be passed to him
