User :   My baby has a very small knot in his right testicle in the sac and on what seems to be his blood vessel (I can feel his veins and it feel like it is in or on a vein). The knot is the size of a pen head or smaller. Do I need to be alarmed?
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hello!
User :   My wife is worried so I thought I would try this to set her mind at ease
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hello!
Doctor :   Do you feel that the size when compared to the other side is smaller?
User :   both testicles appear normal in every way.. The know is a small one in what seems to be his blood vessels
User :   knot not know
User :   it is at the top of his right testicle
Doctor :   Since when have you noticed this know?
Doctor :   Is he passing urine normally?
Doctor :   Does he cry while passing urine?
User :   I can feel his vessels in the sac and the knot is very tiny and in those vessels. I just noticed it tonight.. I was just giving him an exam while in the bath... He acts and appears normal in every other way
User :   No he had no other systoms
Doctor :   Ok
User :   he was laughing when I was giving him the exam
Doctor :   How old is your baby?
Doctor :   Is he active?
User :   I believe it is nothing but wanted to know if this kind of thing was normal to have in babies. He is very active... or as normal as I would expect
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
User :   My wife over reacts on every health issue. I mean really over reacts! I thought I could find out this is normal so I could put her mind at ease.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Since, I cannot visually examine the knot, I am unable to assess the nature of the present problem.
Doctor :   However the possibilities are
Doctor :   1. A completely normal
Doctor :   2. A cystic lesion
Doctor :   3. Varicocele/hydrocele.
Doctor :   Since the knot you describe is a very small one, I expect that it should improve in a few days.
Doctor :   However if you find that the knot is growing in size, or he develops problems/symptoms while urination as described earlier,
Doctor :   then you need to see a doctor.
Doctor :   Thus my suggestion at this point is
Doctor :   you need not be alarmed.
Doctor :   Watch out how the knot behaves in the next few days.
Doctor :   If there is gradual increase in the size, you will have to see a doctor.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   Thank you!!! I've seen a similar knots in adults in pulled muscles.
User :   Yes I have! Thank you... My wife has a fear of the "C" word and jumps to conclusions very fast
Doctor :   I can understand the her nature as a concerned mother.
Doctor :   It is more likely to improve in a few days.
User :   Thank you.
Doctor :   Consult a doctor, if you feel that the knot is progressing in size.
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   She will most likely take him in tomorrow but this may allow her to sleep tonight.
Doctor :   Hope, I have helped her.
User :   No. Thanks Doctor!
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor :   Bye for now.
User :   bye
