Doctor :   Hi,
User :   hi
Doctor :   Dr xxxx here
User :   I went to an urgent care about a month ago cause I had this rash on the back of my knees that seemed to be spreading in small areas below the knee
Doctor :   ok,
User :   the dr gave me a prescription for steroid creme
User :   said it was ring worm
Doctor :   ok,
User :   It seemed to clear up behind my knees but now it is on the inside of my legs
User :   its very frustrating
User :   it feels raw and sometimes itchy
User :   red but no circles
Doctor :   ok,
User :   gets irritated when clothes touch it
User :   any thoughts or things I can try to get rid of this>?
Doctor :   Do you see scaling / ant powdery substance on scratching the lesion ?
Doctor :   any*
User :   no scaling just big red patch that kind feels warm to the touch
User :   no lesions
Doctor :   I mean patch ( lesion )
Doctor :   ok,
User :   no blisters or anything like that
Doctor :   lesion need not be a raised one always
Doctor :   i think it to be a fungal infection according to your history
User :   but why is it spreading and the creme doesnt seem to be working
Doctor :   And its not advisable to start with steroid cream as a first line treatment for a fungal infection
User :   thats what the dr gave me
Doctor :   Steroids can sometimes reduce the local immunity of the skin and make prone to spread of inmfection
User :   great...what do you advice
Doctor :   since they are strong antiinflammatory they can reduce the symptoms like itching but do not kill the fungus causing it
Doctor :   more of shifting work these steroids do
User :   what shall i try
Doctor :   I advice you to go for a antifungal cream
Doctor :   Like MICANAOLE oint
User :   ok
Doctor :   applied twice daily after good washing and drying the lesion
User :   that is over the counter?
Doctor :   yes, it is an OTC
Doctor :   ask for MiCANAOLE ( ZOLE F brand name)
User :   ok thanks
Doctor :   also add up to the ointment by applying KETOCONAZOLE dusting powder all over the body which makes sure that spread do not occur by the time the infection vanishes
Doctor :   You are welcome
User :   is the power over the counter too
Doctor :   also take MULTIVITAMIN capsules to get a good healing of the infection ( do not leave stained skin or a scar behind )
Doctor :   yes , the powder is an OTC
User :   ok thank you
Doctor :   You are welcome
