User :   i am having black stool? is it anything serious?

User :   and i had fever also

User :   i had cold milk with ice
Doctor :   have u eaten anything unusual ?
User :   no
User :   i am on homemade food
Doctor :   also any other symptoms like pain, nausea, vomiting, etc ?
Doctor :   any pain on passing motions ?
User :   felt like vomiting since yesterday
User :   but dint had
Doctor :   any diarhea, constipation ?
User :   no but had severe pain in stomach before stool
Doctor :   was it dark black stools or like brownish ?
User :   black u can say not brownish
Doctor :   some patients on zovirax, can have Gastritis like symptoms as u are had
Doctor :   and occasionally gastric inflammation can cause in minor bleeds in the stomach lining ,
User :   yeah i had gastritis since morning
Doctor :   this bleed can mix with stools and present as altered blackish stools
Doctor :   the color can vary with anything you have eaten as well
Doctor :   But these effects are short lived and will pass off

User :   nothing serious right?
User :   any medication for that?
User :   or any precaution?
Doctor :   you can take omeprazole 20 mg twice daily 30 min before meals
Doctor :   this will reduce the acidity and prevent any more effects

Doctor :   in addition you can take sucralfate syrup 3-4 tsp after meals
Doctor :   can u tell me how you take the zovirax ?
User :   2 times a day post food

Doctor :   you can contnue the same
User :   no the herpes is over,so i had stopped it from yesterday

Doctor :   in that case, just take the pills and syrup i mentioned and u will be fine
User :   one of my family doc sugested over phone to stop solid food and be on ice milk diet
User :   till it becomes you think that is needed?
Doctor :   yes that is to prevent more GI bleed and reduce acidity
User :   do you suggest i should do that?
Doctor :   you can have fruits like banana

Doctor :   the syrup comes with names of pepsigard, Sucral, sucrafil, hapifate etc
User :   ok
User :   one more thing

User :   the family doc also prescribed me some doc
User :   those are: tranexamide tablets
User :   and razo-d
User :   with sucral
User :   what do you advise?
Doctor :   tranexamide is to prevent bleeding , u need not take that since the bleed is stoped and also it does not work in the stomach
Doctor :   you can take razo d 20 mg twice daily as adviced instead omeprazole
User :   how will i know if the bleeding is topped?
User :   stopped?
Doctor :   sucral is the same medication that i adviced earlier
User :   yes right
Doctor :   you will stop having black stools and the symptoms will subside
Doctor :   you need not take it tranexamide anyway
Doctor :   as the rest of the meds will work fine
