User :   ok
Doctor :   Let me explain to you.
Doctor :   Based on your description, the pain is probably a muscular pain secondary to muscle strain.
User :   how about the gas blurps
User :   its very discomforting
Doctor :   It will resolve in a few days with rest.
User :   since i have had gastric issues for some time now
Doctor :   The burps you have does not seem to be related to the pain.
User :   ok
Doctor :   I shall address the burping problem independently later.
Doctor :   The following measures will help in recovery of muscle strains: Doctor :   1. Take adequate rest, avoid bending or lifting heavy weights.
Doctor :   2. Proper posture using a comfortable mattress and pillows during sleep.
User :   ok
Doctor :   3. Local heat therapy in the form of hot compress is extremely useful in such conditions.
Doctor :   You can apply hot water bags on the affected region.
Doctor :   4. Topical antiinflammatory medications. They are available as volini (diclofenac) gel or spray.
Doctor :   You can apply / spray at the affected region.
Doctor :   5. Oral medications are also useful, but restrict using oral pain killers as you suffer from gastritis.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Oral pain killers can aggravate gastritis, so do not use them unless the pain is severe.
Doctor :   These measures will help in faster healing and faster relief of pain.
User :   yes
Doctor :   Coming to the second problem; you report that you have been suffering from gastric problems since a long time, you will need both medications and changes in diet / lifestyle to treat this problem.
Doctor :   Measures which I suggest are
Doctor :   1. Regular diet - avoid using hot and spicy diet. Instead use diet which are easily palatable.
Doctor :   2. Antacid syrup such as Syp mucaine gel 1 teaspoon thrice a day before food for a few days.
Doctor :   3. Drugs which lower acid secretions such as proton pump inhibitors(Omeprazole) can be used for 10 to 14 days.
Doctor :   4. Good sleep and plenty of water.
Doctor :   5. Early morning exercises, yoga and meditations have also been useful.
Doctor :   If these measures do not reduce the symptoms of burping/acidity
Doctor :   you will need a few tests such as upper GI endoscopy to rule out ulcers, hiatus hernia or a lax lower esophageal splincter.
User :   oh
User :   ok
Doctor :   If any of the above conditions are diagnosed, they would need to be treated accordingly.
User :   oh,ok
Doctor :   The aforementioned conditions are not serious problems, so do not worry.
User :   yes
User :   no, thahks
Doctor :   They can be treated effectively with medications, lifestyle modifications (which will include weight modification). Surgical correction is rarely needed.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   will start off with the syrup first
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   thanks again
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
User :   bye
