Doctor:Good Afternoon
Doctor:I am Dr. XXXXXXX here
User:Hi Doctor. I'm XXXXXXX Good after noon
Doctor:How can I help you?
User:I'm suffering from cold since one week. As I'm TTC I haven't taken any medication - was trying with Hot water gargling steam inhalation. Took okacet last two days. I still have blocked and running nose and throat pain towards the upper mouth too
User:This started with a sinus kind of pain (off late I am getting sinusitus problem freqently)
Doctor:What did you mean by TTC?
User:sorry, trying to conceive
Doctor:Ok. I got it.
User:I used my son's otrinoz nasal drops also for a relief
Doctor:You have done all things correctly till now.
Doctor:It is common to have viral fever during anytime of the year. And it usually takes around 1 week to get relieved.
Doctor:But, if it is not at all improving, it is important to rule out any secondary bacterial infection.
User:steam inhalation twice daily, garlic once in morning 5 times
Doctor:That is right.
Doctor:Since you are saying that, you are having frequent sinus infections, it is possible to be a bacterial infectin too.
User:ok. it'scontinuing, but nor worsening since last 5 days. By eve I feel better but again wake up with heavy nose
Doctor:Fine. In my opinion, you can avoid using the nasal drops. It causes rebounding of the nasal blockage.
Doctor:Rest of the measures including, steam inhalation and warm saline gargle can be continued.
Doctor:If fever occurs, it is safe to use Tab. calpol 500 mg, one tablet, 3 times daily.
Doctor:But if it does not come down in another 2-3 days, you need to visit your family physician.
User:But there is no fever or high temperature
Doctor:In case there is no fever, you need not use Calpol.
Doctor:If you are getting the sinus infections frequently, it is always better to get it checked with an ENT surgeon to rule out any deviation of the nasal septum.
Doctor:It is common to have DNS, but if symptoms are there, then it needs treatment.
Doctor:Also try keeping your room a bit on the warmer side.
Doctor:I hope these measures should relieve you of your symptoms.
Doctor:Have you understood all my suggestions?
User:ok. should i stop levocet
Doctor:You can take levocet for another 2-3 days more.
User:I understood all what you said till now. Should i avoid headbath
Doctor:You can take head bath.
User:One more question. should i continue steam inhalation as a precuation agaist this coming back even after it comes down, as I'm planning to conceive
User:i.e will steam inhalation without symptoms do harm or will it prevent ti from coming back
Doctor:You need not continue steam inhalation regularly after the cold is relieved. It does not prevent cold from coming.
Doctor:It just relieves when the symptoms are present.
User:ok. Anything else doctor. I do not have anymore questions. As you said, if this persists after 2-3 days, I'll visit the doctor
Doctor:Hope I have cleared all your concerns.
Doctor:You are in the right path. just keep going.
Doctor:You will be fine soon.
User:Thanks doctor for your time and advice. have XXXXXXX day
Doctor:You too have a nice day!!
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor:Bye for now.
