User :   I got overheated working outside this summer. Since then when I get overheated from exursion, I have severe upper back pain radiating into my shoulder blades and chest. The pain seems to be alleviated if I sit down or simply lean back for a few seconds or a minute. I do not blackout, feel faint, no shortness of breath, no nausea. It has been ongoing for about three weeks. There is no numbness in limbs, just onset of back and shoulder pain. Also when I lift my breasts and cool off underneath, the pain subsides. In relaxed state, there are no symptoms, only when I walk up and down stairs or walk fast. I have mowed the lawn since onset of symptoms, but stop often when start getting pain. After I sit down and lean back, the pain goes away, and I resume mowing. No rapid heart rate, nor dizziness during the episode. I am a female, 60 years of age and in very good health, with history of heart disease on both sides of family.
Doctor :   Hi,
Doctor :   Dr here
Doctor :   please give me a couple of minutes to read your post
Doctor :   Ok,
Doctor :   I do relate the pain to the muscle cramp due to work and exertion
Doctor :   considering the age where osteomalacia ( low calcium in bones ) can be expected
Doctor :   toaggrevate the pain
User :   The pain is better when I "pop" my back, leaning back until I feel the pop right about my sternum.
Doctor :   this gives me a clue of bone weakness
User :   I did lots of rest the past couple of weeks, only moderate physical exertion.
Doctor :   which again can be due to low calcium
User :   Symptoms seem to be subsiding. I take two Advil at bedtime only as laying down sometimes causes onset of pain.
Doctor :   ok i understand, any stretch in the bones causes pain i presume
User :   Yes.
Doctor :   if once the trigger is set the pain may last for few weeks even on taking enough rest
Doctor :   in the bones with low calciumn
Doctor :   hence i would suggest you to take calcium supliments for atleast 2 to 3 months
User :   I drink about two glasses of milk per day, sometimes more.
Doctor :   to prevent any such situations in future
User :   Are there any specific supplements to look for ?
Doctor :   no not only milk , calcium suppliments in Tab form
User :   Any recommendation? Citracal?
Doctor :   sure i will find one for you, you are from US is it ?
User :   yes, thank you
Doctor :   Yes Citracal is one among the best
User :   Thank you very much I will get some. Good bye
Doctor :   dosage would be 500mg twice a day after food
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me
Doctor :   provide your feedback
