User :   I have schizoaffetive D/O, its been getting worse...I am hearing voices..and been really depressed.

User :   3 months
Doctor :   Did you get some medication from your doctor?

User :   yeah and its not working.
Doctor :   What is it, may I know your medication and treatment history?
User :   I am on resperdol,lithuim,kolonpin,tegertol and haldol. I am schoizoaffetive biplar...The voice are so bad, I cant sleep..
User :   I havnt seen my doctor because I cant afford too,and I dont know what to do.
Doctor :   Are you taking them from a primary or a psychiatrist

User :   psychiatrist.
Doctor :   When did you actually start them?
Doctor :   Do you have medicines with you right now?

User :   About three months ago..I been seeing him over the past yr,just last three months have been bad. and yes I got the medicin now.
Doctor :   So you mean you used the medicine for more than a year
Doctor :   I mean were you compliant with the medication?
User :   Yes, The only change is he up the dose and the millagrams.

User :   No,it dosnt feel like mom says looks like I am getting worse.
Doctor :   Actually you need education on this front
Doctor :   Not only the medication there is lot more to be offered to you
Doctor :   by the doctor, counsellor, family
Doctor :   Family therapy, Psychotherapy, Behavioural modifications etc
User :   Oh ok.
Doctor :   But in acute conditions like this you have to rely on

Doctor :   Say if you are nto able to sleep to night
Doctor :   Medication helps you
Doctor :   The therapy take atleast 6 months to 9 months
User :   oh ok..

Doctor :   For the medications they take atleast 6 to 8 weeks to act
Doctor :   What I suggest you is to meet a Psychotherapist who is cheaper than a Psychiatrist
Doctor :   So I suggest you is to follow up frequently with Psychotherapist and less frequently with Psychiatrist

Doctor :   Ask him to give you behavioural changes one on one and not all at once
Doctor :   I also suggest to seek your family help in making you feel good
Doctor :   In fact one of them should accompany you
Doctor :   to the Psychotherapist
Doctor :   So he can counsel them too
User :   ok that sounds good. I just wanted to make sure I dont need to be in a hospital.
User :   I will do that.
Doctor :   Hospitalization is a frequent affair in persons with Schizoaffective disorder
Doctor :   but importantly the longterm benefits should be weighed than short term expenses
