User :   My daughter is 6 years old and has always had her right arm visibly larger than her left. She doesn't complain of pain or discomfort and doesn't seem to have any limitations of movement. It's about an inch and a half larger than her left, she is left handed.
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   I am
Doctor :   Let me read the query
Doctor :   Did you measure the arm by circumference ?

User :   Yes
Doctor :   Can you tell me the measurements?
User :   1.5"
Doctor :   Is it Mid arm cirucumference?
Doctor :   Are they measured at same distance from the elbow joint
User :   Left arm 7.5 mid bicep
User :   Right arm same spot 8.5
Doctor :   What is the weight of the child?
User :   Left wrist 5 right wrist 6
User :   Weight 54 lbs
User :   Height 45"
Doctor :   I feel that this is not worrisome at all as she has not symptom and the weight is perfect to her height and age

Doctor :   The probable reasons
Doctor :   1) It is the tendency of the right arm to have a larger MAC than left one even though a person is left handed
Doctor :   2) This is quite common in children evidently
Doctor :   Do you feel that this is a cosmetic disfigurement
User :   She's at the age where her friends notice and she is having a hard time with being different
User :   Yes, her arm is visibly larger from the her shoulder to her wrist
User :   So I would say it's a cosmetic disfgurement
Doctor :   I understand your daughter's agony. It matters for her with peer group
Doctor :   Covering the arm is the immediate solution before you see a Pediatric surgeon if he has some advice on it

Doctor :   Like wearing full hand sleeve can cover the area
Doctor :   I do not have a perfect answer though and I think many doctors shall rule that too
User :   We've been doing that as much as possible but now that it's summer and
Doctor :   Even half sleeves can cover the area
User :   Okay
Doctor :   Also the age outgrows the cosmetic reason
User :   That's pretty much what her doctor said but wanted to make sure there wasn't something else that we could be doing
Doctor :   Right
User :   could be doing
User :   Oops
Doctor :   Do not show your concern infront of your child
User :   Oaky, I guess we just rode it out
Doctor :   This creates a worrisome impression on her
User :   We try to be as positive as possible but right now she has some mean kids at her school that have been teasing her
User :   She's a strong little girl so I'm sure she'll be fine
Doctor :   She may be worried to go to school too
User :   Thank you for your help
User :   Right
Doctor :   It maynot be best answer, but a week away from school with home teaching at least makes her happy
Doctor :   Ask her to change the seat on request with the teacher

Doctor :   when she gets back to school
User :   Thanks doctor I appreciate your halp
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me
Doctor :   Bye for now
User :   Bye
