User :   hi i fell skiing, my legs splayed outwards, I fell forwards and the impact was hard on my inner knees and now can hardly walk .... there is no swelling or visible bruising ??? Any thoughts on what this may be. The accident was a week ago and I am still struggling
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Dr here
Doctor :   let me read your query
Doctor :   do u have any pain in the knees ?
Doctor :   any swelling at the site ?
User :   left knee is starting to get pain in the knee AS IT STARTS TO FEEL LIKE IT IS IMPROVING
User :   No swelling I can see
User :   Sore to touch the inside of both knees
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   this could be associated with a sprain or
Doctor :   a tendon injury , or a meniscal injury within the knees joint
User :   But it came from a bang onto the ice on both knees ..... the leg didn't particularly twist is that still the case ?
Doctor :   ok,
Doctor :   in that case, you could just have a contusion , a form of inflammation of the superficial skin
Doctor :   applying heat, ibuprofen for a few days, rest , limb elevation are steps that will be helpful in your case
User :   OK could you just explain what the imflamation of the superficial skin is please
Doctor :   any form of injury, will damage the skin
Doctor :   this injury can be associated with increased cytokine release into the tissue
Doctor :   this damage, can cause superficial injury to the tissues
Doctor :   this causes pain and increased blood flow to the area
User :   If this is what you assume it is do you have an opinion on the recovery time (obviously an estimate only)
Doctor :   the recovery will need less than 2 weeks
Doctor :   Adequate rest, limb elevation , heat packs are helpful to resolve your issues
Doctor :   in addition advil or motrin are helpful too
User :   OK and Thank you ....Bye !
Doctor :   i hope i have cleared all your doubts
Doctor :   thanks for consulting me here
Doctor :   take care and bye for now
