Doctor :   Hello.
User :   hello
Doctor :   How can i help you?
User :   would you mind by first telling me your credentials?
Doctor :   I'm Dr.XXX
Doctor :   GP.
User :   ok
User :   ok I need some advice on a current situation
User :   I had an injury exercising
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   where I pulled my trapezius muscle
User :   I aggrevated it
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   to start with then kept going
User :   for about a week
User :   was getting better
User :   so a week later I did one pull up and my whole back and neck locked up
User :   I had never been to a chiropractor, so I tried that and he adjusted me 4times in a week
User :   and I really did not recover from that
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   so I ended up seeing a neurosurgeon
User :   and was told my problem was all muscular
User :   seeing a physcial therapist
User :   where I work on basic stretches
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   three months later I am still slow to recover
User :   I was prescribed diclofenac and Valium
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Is it one side or both?
User :   initially it was one side
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   I basically get neck and back spasms
User :   all over
User :   some days its the upper back
User :   some days lower
User :   some days neck
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   so am not sure what the valium will do other then take away the symptoms
User :   but then when I stop taking it, wont they come back
User :   I guess am not sure what to do
Doctor :   How many days rest did you take?
User :   one PT told me that I had a pulled trap and "other neck"
User :   problems
User :   well alot
User :   for the first month I was hardly able to walk or hold my head up
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Since when are you on medication?
User :   I am on diclofenac for about a mononth
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   and valium I started yesterday
User :   I dont like drugs so was hesitant to start
User :   especially not sure about what good valium will do
Doctor :   Valium will relive muscle spams.
User :   right, but that is just treating the symptom right
Doctor :   What other measure do you take for the pain?
User :   heat
User :   but that's it
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   How often do you apply hot compression?
User :   as much as I can
User :   was doing it about every hour
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   then stopped
Doctor :   For how many days was valium prescribed?
User :   a 10day dose
User :   to help sleep
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   You can continue with valium and diclofenac.
User :   what do you think is going on
Doctor :   Give alternative hot and cold compression over the back.
User :   why is it slow to recover?
Doctor :   Give me your age?
User :   33
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   just now sure why its so long to recover
Doctor :   Probably due to Repetitive Strain Injury.
User :   or if there is other issues
User :   what is that
User :   are you in India?
Doctor :   Yes.
User :   ah, ok, was thinking I could just call you
User :   so what is repetitive strain injury?
Doctor :   Where the muscle is injured repeatedly.
User :   so how do I get out of this'
Doctor :   Basically it is it is rest and analgesics.
Doctor :   And if required muscle relaxants.
User :   please explain analgesiscs
User :   my frustration is that I just wont heal
Doctor :   analgesics are pain killers.
User :   but that deals with the symptom not the problem
Doctor :   The problem is injury to the muscle.
Doctor :   You have to let the muscle heal itself.
Doctor :   till that time you have to treat
Doctor :   symptomatically
User :   so does PT help then or?
User :   is it normal for it to take this long
User :   does physcal therapy actually help or make it worse
Doctor :   The healing time depends on the extent of muscle injury .
User :   so three months is not abnormally long?
Doctor :   Have you done any investigation for it?
User :   what doyou mean
Doctor :   Like MRI scan,
User :   did an xray
User :   not mri
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   should I get an MRI?
Doctor :   You should consult your treating doctor
Doctor :   for it.
User :   but is 3months too long for recovery?
Doctor :   That is reason for investigation. to find out the extent of injury
