User:This is to talk about Hemorrhoids
Doctor:Pls go ahead
User:I will tell my history about it first
User:Its almost 8-10 years when it was occured. It used to lead to bleeding and my family doctor prescribed me medicines which I used to take for 5-7 days and the problem was over. This would come once in 1-2 years
User:3 years back, i got fissure (which was v v painful) and some v XXXXXXX doctors in delhi advised surgery. One doc suggested Sit Baths and some medicines and I was fine in 15-20 days
User:Now after 3 years I have got Hemorrhoid which is not painful. I went to the same doc and he advised same treatment of sit baths. He now told me that since it didnt work, he would advise surgery
User:I dont have pain and I am still continuing with sit baths and I dont want to undergo any surgery
Doctor:I understand you
User:i am v confused what to do
Doctor:We can try all the conservative methods ( sitz bath, high fibre food, losening stools) and when they are depleted or ineffective the last resort to surgery
Doctor:Moreover if you have symptoms frequently losing blood, having pain , unable to lead quality of life you can go for surgery
Doctor:But since you have them once in two to three years you can still manage with conservative approach
Doctor:Your doctor cannot force you
Doctor:A point to be noted is, the frequency of the symptoms will increase as you age and would not reduce
Doctor:So when you find that your daily routine or life is painful you can opt for surgery
Doctor:It is very simple and non painful, one day surgery
User:yes thats what i want but just fear that i dont spoil it further by not listening to the doctor
Doctor:I would not be able to tell you how large are the hemorrhoids but what is important is the symptom
User:and my only worry is that if i dont undergo surgery, it does not lead to any complications leater. My plan at the moment us to do sitz bath for even a month, eat no junk and eat high fiber food
Doctor:Sometimes they are large but you would not bother
Doctor:The surgery can be done at any time
User:R u based in Delhi ?
Doctor:when they are enlarged
Doctor:I am in Bangalore
User:3 years back when I was told about surgery, I went to 3 Top Most hospitals in Delhi and all three doctors told me different surgical procedures
User:Trust me these are big brand hospitals
User:but damaged patient's confidence
User:when all of them say different things (only common thing was advising surgery)
User:so in this highly commercialised industry, you real wonder where to get operated from (in case surgery is only option)
User:u there ??
Doctor:The procedure depends on the technology they have
User:do you have any advise on which type of surgery or how to pick doctor & hospitals
Doctor:and the expertise they possess
Doctor:Finally the difference of outcome are marginal
Doctor:I would suggest if you have insurance and is paying better to opt for the latest technique
User:i have insurance
User:so i would want to go for the best
User:any advise there ?
Doctor:The technique also depends on the location and the size
Doctor:There are staples, laser technology and Cryo (freezing)
User:its at 3 o clock
User:and an 0.5 to 1 inch big
Doctor:You can go for Laser hemorrhoidectomy
User:how long does it take after the surgery to start work again
User:i travel for 3-4 hours in car a day, in a sales job
Doctor:Very quick in two days
Doctor:Sclerotherpy is good option as well
User:this technique is different than laser ?
Doctor:Yeah laser beam is used there, chemical solution to burn the hemorrhoid in sclerotherapy
Doctor:Both burn the hemorrhoid
User:Also on TV, Sony channel they show an ayurvedic medicine - Arshkalp claiming guarantee for no surgery.......would you be having knowledge on that OR your Ayurvedic collegues if any in your organisation
Doctor:YOu can post your query under 'Ask A Specialist' for Ayurveda
User:since u now know my case and If I need to chat again later (in a week or later)- is there a way i can reach you for chatting directly ??
Doctor:You can ask for my name on the chat once the doctor picks it
Doctor:If I am not available, you can use the other service 'Get a Call from Doctor' and mention my name they will connect in few minutes
User:if surgery is needed, would you be able to advise doc and hospital in delhi (like the best :) )
Doctor:Yes sure
User:ok then..bye for now........hope I dont need to chat again and I get well else I will come back..............Many thanks
Doctor:All the best of health
Doctor:Bye for now
User:b bye
