User :   I have a recurrence of severe costochondritis. I have recently also had severe achilles tendon problems and gout for the first time, in addition to an ongoing problem with my back which is stiff and painful. Are these connected ?
Doctor :   Hi,
Doctor :   Dr here
Doctor :   yes, gout could be a cause
Doctor :   Have you tied painkillers for the same ?
Doctor :   tried*
Doctor :   Are you there ?
User :   YEs have tried ibubrofen norelief
Doctor :   ok try with a stronger one this time like diclofenac
User :   ok was wondering if there was some sort of arthritic condition causing all of them
Doctor :   no , it could be not so general in distribution
Doctor :   Also try by applying diclofenac gel over the affected area
User :   is this just a run of bad luck then??
Doctor :   no ,its a common presentation in gout
Doctor :   do not worry , take pain killers for momentary relief
Doctor :   may i know what medication were you on for gout
User :   gout has almost cleared its the costo thats probematic - can this cause severe fatigue
Doctor :   yes,
User :   is it best to avoid all exercise or to try to keep moving even tho this is very painful and exhauistin
Doctor :   you have to rest , work out will worsen the condition
User :   it just has to run its course then - last time this took months its depressing
Doctor :   right intervention will get rid of it faster
User :   painkillers and rest then
Doctor :   visit a rheumatologist for the same if possible , he is the specialist or this
Doctor :   yes, primary requirement rest and painkillers
User :   does costo recurr often
Doctor :   there are chances
User :   what about the achilles tendonitis, was that unrelated
Doctor :   achilles tendinitis can also be a part of gout ,
User :   gout in the tendon then, my diagnosed gout was in classic big toe
Doctor :   and that cause due tp deposition of uric acid crystals in the tendon leading to inflammation
Doctor :   joints are more affected, specially small joints and the big toe being the specific sign
Doctor :   the involvement of the big toe is identifying the start of the disease process and treating before it progresses
User :   the achiles problems started before the toe tho
Doctor :   since its the soft tissue involvement it could hav presented earlier
User :   swelling in achilles gone down a lot but a lump still remains would this still indicate gout
Doctor :   no , indicates the tendon scar post inflammation
