? Doctor :   Hi how can I Help you
User :   I have had sporadic pain in my right abdomen over the last 2-3 weeks. There was only one severe episode several weeks ago and now today there is some sharp pain again, though some of which was relieved after a bowel movement.
I have researched appendicitis and it sounds like that is possible, but the pain not constant at all and there is no nausea or fever accompanying it. However, the pain is located in the right lower quadrant near the belly button. Also, I do lift 4-5 times a week and have had a hernia in the past, so I know that is not likely the case here. The pain is not immediately present unless I push on the area, and upon the release of the pushing there is little to no pain. I also feel the pain when I take deep breaths. Does this sound like appendicitis or could it be something else, like a muscle strain?
Doctor :   did it start after a bout of heavy Weight lifting
Doctor :   or did it start in itself
User :   well did lift last night... and the pain was present when i woke up this morning
Doctor :   It could in all probability be Appendicitis, and that would need Surgery to clear
User :   my confusion lies in that the pain has only happened twice in the past month and then there is nothing, even when i push on it or after i lift.
Doctor :   Well since you do work out there are possibilities for this test to be misleading since the Abdominal muscles would be taught at that moment, hence may not get a clear picture..
User :   do you suggest going in immediately or giving it a day to see if pain persists... and should i forgo lifting this evening to get a clear picture?
Doctor :   No it will not relate to your lifting weights, woudl suggest you to get it examined by the Surgeon at the earliest with out delay for the simple reason
Doctor :   that
Doctor :   If you were to have a rupture appendix that would be more trouble some to tackle than a simple appendicitis
Doctor :   Please fill the feedback form say done when done while I type the information you needed.
User :   what is the recovery like after appendicitis surgery? if i do need surgery, could i put it off for a week and a half?
Doctor :   I would tell you to get the surgery done ate the earliest and if you do have it done it will need atleast 10 days of bed rest and later you can slowly reasume work..
User :   10 days of actual bed rest?! as in not working or doing any physical activity? isn't the laparoscopic surgery a lot less invasive? i would think recovery would be quicker.
Doctor :   Yes if that is the way it is going to be performed then the recovery would be faster
Doctor :   may be 3-5 days time itself
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting Health care magic. Bye for now. Please refer your friends to our service
