User :   my daughter has had problems with passing stools for over 1 year now, i have tried most things, nothing helps. she cries, screams, shakes and sometimes these is blood in the stool. she often goes 4-10 days without going, what can i do?
Doctor :   hello
User :   hi
Doctor :   may i know her age ?
User :   she is 3 1/2
Doctor :   since when you have been noticing this problem ?
User :   since she was 2
User :   since she was 2. she passes urine fine on the toilet, she happy to put herslef on the toilet but just not for stools
Doctor :   and what is the consistency of the stools ?
User :   it varies greatly, if she has lactulose 20ml per day its soft
User :   is she doesnt have lactulose, its hard
Doctor :   and what is the frequency of blood ?
User :   she has been having lactulose since she was 2
User :   umm, probable on every 3rd stool, which isnt very much considering she may only pass stools 4-5 times per month
User :   she also gets a mucus on some of them
User :   and they tend to be either very long or very large and round, tennis ball size when round
Doctor :   was she taken to the physician >?
User :   doctor?
User :   i have taken her to my doctors on 4-5 occasions and been given more lactulose and been told she will grow out of it
Doctor :   yes usually that is the case
Doctor :   but then i am also a bit concerned that she is really contipated
Doctor :   constipated
Doctor :   and that should not happen
Doctor :   constipation is common in babies and young children
User :   when she feels she needs to go she stiffens her body and crosses her legs, screams, goes bright red in the face, cries and it tires her out so much
Doctor :   but we need to find the cause
Doctor :   so that it can be treated
User :   finding the cause would be a relief not just for her but us too,
Doctor :   she needs to under go diagnostic tests
User :   what do they involve? and how do i arrange them?
Doctor :   how is the health otherwise ?
User :   she is well in her self, has a persistant cough but nothing else really
User :   the cough has only been around for the last 2 months
Doctor :   any fever?
User :   no
User :   she oftens gets ear infections
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   well she needs to have done a plain abdominal radiography
Doctor :   and Anorectal manometry
Doctor :   these two tests will help us find the real cause
Doctor :   and then she can be treated
User :   can my doctor arrange this?
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   you have to just ask for them
Doctor :   and it can be arranged
User :   will they arrange this if i request?
Doctor :   yes they will
User :   thank you
Doctor :   your welcome
Doctor :   take care
