Doctor :   hello
User :   hello
Doctor :   how can i help you ?
User :   im a 21 year old female
User :   3 days ago i went in to have a small lump in my lower groin area checked
User :   the doctor said he couldnt feel much and figured that it must be an ingrown hair
User :   and if i was a swollen lymph node then it was due to an ingrown hair
User :   he prescribe erythromycin
Doctor :   pl
Doctor :   ok
User :   although i had harsh side effects then, now my body seems to have adjusted
User :   this is my 4th day taking the drug and i have not seen any substantial shrinking
User :   i'm scared that the medication isn't working
Doctor :   how long was the course prescribed to you ?
User :   10 days and the doctor scheduled a follow up but was confident the little lump would be gone before
User :   and said that if it was gone before to not even show up to the follow up consultation
Doctor :   is it painful ?
User :   it scares me because this is my fourth day and the lump which is about 1 inch long
User :   it seems to be about the same
User :   well when i check on it i dont press on it
User :   i just feel to see its size
Doctor :   what all symptoms are you having at the moment >?\
User :   other than that, no. i tried 'popping" it before going to the doctor and it bruised a little and hurt but before then i had no pain
User :   before the consultation i had no symptoms
User :   even now i have no symptoms
Doctor :   any weight loss?
User :   just the side effects of the drug but those have eased
User :   no weight loss
Doctor :   have you got used to the medication now ?
User :   yes
Doctor :   any nausea
User :   still have a bit of nausea
Doctor :   vomiting ?
User :   not much
Doctor :   ok
User :   before i did
User :   not anymore
Doctor :   thats good
User :   my stomach still feels funny when taking it
User :   but its much more bearable
Doctor :   well its HIGHLY advisable that you take the complete course
Doctor :   thats the key
User :   im just scared that if it doesnt go away with the medication that it may be cancer
Doctor :   now i strongly recommend that you please DONT TOUCH IT
Doctor :   as it can lead to infection
User :   even slightly feeling the size of it?
User :   i dont squish it
Doctor :   what you are undergoing is the PERFECT PROTOCOL . any swollen node or a source of infection is first and foremost treated with a course of antibiotics
Doctor :   no please dont touch it at all
User :   i'm just afraid that if it doesnt go away that it may be cancerous
Doctor :   if you are concerned that it might be cancerous then for that a strong history of weight loss will be there and also skin cancers are mostly seen on the sun exposed surface of the area and not where you have it
Doctor :   also cancer growth will NEVER respond to ANY antibiotics
Doctor :   not even ONE BIT
Doctor :   and 3 days history is not sufficient
Doctor :   dont think about it and fill your mind with any negative thoughts
Doctor :   just dont touch it and please do take your antibiotics on time
Doctor :   you will be fine
User :   the lump has shrunk since i first felt it
User :   and ive had those in the past
Doctor :   well then it can not be cancerous
User :   if the medication were to not work
User :   what would be the next step?
Doctor :   then that only means that you might have to extend a course for 2- 3 days
Doctor :   and also they will take a culture to see what organism is causing it and give specific antibiotics
Doctor :   just get the cancer fear out of your mind
User :   yeah, the more i feel it
User :   i get anxious that it's not going away
Doctor :   just take your meds
Doctor :   and forget about it
Doctor :   and DONT touch it
Doctor :   its only been 3 days
Doctor :   you have 7 more to go
Doctor :   it will be fine
