User :   i have what looks like Geographic tongue, my tongue is whiter than normal with large, swooping areas (like a map, islands) on the front of my tongue, and partially up the right side of my tongue. its not painful, started like a canker sore on the tongue, now its patchy. Is it geographic tongue? leukoplakia ? i thought at first it was herpes, but now i dont know.
User :   can this be contracted to the penis through oral sex, and if so what are the symptoms?\
User :   this developed about a week after a weekend of heavy drinking, a very small amount of smoking, (it was loose rolled tobacco cigarette), and brief oral sex.....
User :   mouth to mouth and mouth to penis
Doctor :   Hi,
Doctor :   Let me read your query for few minutes to be able to have a good discussion here.
User :   ok, pls ask more questions if need be and thank you
Doctor :   Is the lesion painful ?
User :   no, not even when it started, tiny bit of uncomfort, but only from the canker likeness to it
User :   but that subsided quite quick, now its just like mentioned above,
User :   i saw a picture of Geographic tongue on the net and it looks like that, and is painless
Doctor :   is the tongue swollen ?
User :   no, may have been a very small amount at the beginnning, but so mild i couldnt really say
User :   it is very distinct looking on my tongue
Doctor :   May i know your age and gender ?
User :   male 29 years
User :   healthy, 5'8" 175 lbs....
Doctor :   ok, What i too suspect is a geographical tongue , the cause of which is always tough to find
Doctor :   commonly it is due to vitamin deficiency
User :   i am taking a lot of vitamins now, will it go away ?
Doctor :   i adcice you to visit a dermatologist and get a biopsy of the lesion to reconfirm the diagnosis
User :   i had three days of unusually excessive drinking just prior to this on my tongue...
Doctor :   advice*
User :   its flat and no lumps or bumps to it,.....
Doctor :   yes, drinking and smoking can also trigger such a lesion
User :   it doesnt sound like herpes on the tongue though
Doctor :   i do not consider the cancer to be a chance
Doctor :   no , not even herpes
User :   that is good
Doctor :   leucoplakia could be one chance but it do not occur in such a short period of time
User :   can this be contacted to the penis area, and is it possible this is leukoplakia?
User :   this was about 15 days ago now, weekend of nov 25 , 26th
Doctor :   yes, it could be leukoplakia, but my strong suspection is towards geographical tongue , yes which can happen on oral sex too
User :   what would be symptoms if it was contracted in the penis area?
Doctor :   Biopsy of the lesion will give a detailed insight into the problem
User :   ok, how do i go about that in a timely fashion,....visiting my regular doctor is much slower.....
Doctor :   no, you cant make the difference from one caught due to oral sex and one from other cause
User :   will this go away, ?
Doctor :   yes, it will go away , multivitamins will surely help
User :   ok
Doctor :   visit a dermatologist for a fast biopsy proccedings
User :   ok, i worry now that i have geographic tongue and maybe herpes too,.....bc of the oral kissing and mouth to penis....
Doctor :   , yes herpes do spread that way , but very rarely occurs over tongue, its commonest site is lips
User :   my lips may have always had tiny tiny white dots on the top lip, but i dont know, now that im looking close i wonder if that is the onset of an outbreak
User :   because now i am looking closely and scrutinizing everything...
User :   they are very very small you have to look rear close to see them, on my upper lip, what does that sound like
User :   or could that be normal
Doctor :   its a normal papillae herpes presents with water filled lesions
User :   ive been taking lyhsine and using abreva just in case bc i am worried
User :   sorry what does that mean
Doctor :   i do not see any need for them
User :   for lyhsine and abreva?
Doctor :   yes,
User :   any extra symptoms of geographic tongue??
User :   body wise, or just the tongue area........
User :   i appreciate your help here, sorry if im rambling.
Doctor :   swelling , itching over the tongue , mouthulcers
User :   no itching, i dont think mouthulcers, other than the canker bit, when it started
User :   maybe tiny swelling to start
Doctor :   no , there would be no general symptoms
User :   i worry i have contracted hpsv-1
Doctor :   no,
Doctor :   do not worry , go for a biopsy it will clear your all doubts
User :   the person i was with i didnt see any cold sores, but i know it can still be contracted
Doctor :   yes,
User :   should i get a blood test for herpes too
Doctor :   no need, biopsy will tell
