User :   EKG says left atrial abnormality. On and off during the day increasing fast heartbeat - feels like its in my throat. Should I go to the emergency room?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   may i know your age ?
User :   almost 60
Doctor :   do u have any hypertension or do u take any medications ?
User :   I'm not sure what hypertension is. I have low blood pressure. I do take medications...a bunch including HRT and HGH.
Doctor :   Left atrial abnormality is a sign of benign conditions like age related changes in the LA
Doctor :   (LA = left atrium)
Doctor :   this is nothing serious that needs you to run to the ER
Doctor :   This is a common finding seen in many elderly individuals
User :   oh good - never had this before - it feels really weird - just had the EKG yesterday - now I am conscious of it - its a little strange but not painful.
Doctor :   this is also a sign of enlarged Left atrium, which occurs due to age
Doctor :   ok
User :   does this mean I will have heart problems or a heart attack or stroke?
Doctor :   that is ok to have palpitations when you are anxious or during exertion
Doctor :   no not at all
Doctor :   with age, the LA dilates, due to high blood collection and rigidity of heart walls
User :   yeah - I'm ok with that - but it happens when I am doing nothing much at all - watching TV or reading - or first thing in the morning...
Doctor :   this is a common finding and not much significant
User :   ok - good - then I will not clog up the ER - Thank you.
Doctor :   you are welcome
Doctor :   may i know what is your Bp , When last measured ?
Doctor :   Are u there ?
Doctor :   are u there ?
Doctor :   It seems that you have moved out of the chat session
Doctor :   please log in again if u have any other query
Doctor :   thanks for consulting me here
Doctor :   bye for now
