User :   My husband fell about an hour ago while I was out - when I got home I found him; he was conscious, but on the floor, there was a decent amount of blood, but it has stopped bleeding now. He is now in bed with an ice/gel pack on his forhead. His vsion seems fine, and right now he doesn't have a headache and is sleeping - should I take him to the emergency room? Or what signs should I look for before I take him to the ER? I plan to wake him every couple of hours and check on him, and keep an ice pack on his head - what else should I do?
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   HI Dr.
Doctor :   Let me read your query for some time to be able to have a good discussion here.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Where actually is the bleeding injury ?
User :   His forehead - just right of the center - but the bleeding is stopped now...
Doctor :   do not neglect the head injuries, rush to the ER
Doctor :   He may need a scan
Doctor :   sometimes the symptoms of intracranial bleed present delayed
Doctor :   hence take him now to ER do not delay
User :   Yes, I was afraid of that - learned that in A&P - but he really isn't in good shape to move right now... and I don't want him to sit for HOURS in the waiting room to see somebody...
Doctor :   its an emergency
Doctor :   they have to attend him soon
User :   do you think they will see him immediately since it's his head???
Doctor :   at least a scan of the skull and brain is needed
Doctor :   yes, they have to
User :   OK - thanks, that's what I was thinking - I'm a little worried as you might guess...
Doctor :   i understand
Doctor :   if the consultation gets delayed, at least get the scan done to be on safer side
User :   ok thanks again! anything else I need to know? can they do a scan without somebody seeing him?
Doctor :   yes,
Doctor :   vomiting is a danger sign , watch for it
Doctor :   check is conciousness and sensorium every 30 min
Doctor :   watch for seizures
User :   got it - got it - and got it! Thanks! anything else?
Doctor :   do not compress the skull hard , if there are any skull fractures you may aggravate
Doctor :   that is it
Doctor :   take him to the ER
Doctor :   time is of essence
User :   ok - that is also good to know - yes, thanks! will do! Thank you - I am going to sign off now!!
Doctor :   ok, thanks
