User :   I have a problem with my daugher being hot all the time. It is freezing in her room and she will open the window.she is overweight although she does not eat alot. she is pale and tired all the time and sometimes her face looks bloated rather than just chubby,She has frequent bowel movements and she sweats ALOT. She is always saying that her joints hurt as well and that she is dizzy. What could be wrong with her?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   let me read ur query
Doctor :   may i know her age , weight, height ?
Doctor :   also is she on any medications ?
User :   She is 9 - 4ft 7" and is around 100lbs
User :   she does not take medication. she was taking a prescription strength vitamin D casue her dr thought that was the cause of having no energy but it did not work.
Doctor :   feeling tired, and pale could be due to anemia
User :   Dr said hemogloblin(not sure if its spelled right) was ok
Doctor :   have any blood tests been done , including thyroid profile , etc ?
User :   Whta is a normal thyroid range?
Doctor :   most of her symptoms could be due to hypothyroidism
Doctor :   it depends on the TSH , LEVEL
Doctor :   THE Normal is 0.4 to 4.5
User :   Ok. I am concerned that she is so unusually hot. It will be 30degrees and she would be sweating. Is that a symptom as well?
Doctor :   increased bowel movements, diarrhea, feeling hot and sweating could be a sign of excess hormones of thyroid
User :   So I thought Hypo was an underactive thyroid not an overactive?
Doctor :   she may need a panel of tests to check her thyroid
Doctor :   yes you are right
Doctor :   hypo meand underactive and hyper is overactive
User :   So what should I tell the Dr? That I want him to do a thyroid test? Are there any natural treatments that I could be doing at home to lessen the symptoms?
Doctor :   yes you can give her some energy drinks so that she can get active
Doctor :   at the doctor's, when you mention her symptoms and as he examines her, he can get a battery of tests including T3, T4 TSH,
User :   Like rockstar or red bull? Are those ok to give a 9 year old?
Doctor :   also encouraging her to get physically active and do excercises will be good
Doctor :   yes she can have them
Doctor :   I hope i have cleared all your doubts
Doctor :   Is there anything else i can help you with ?
User :   Ok. I guess I will take her to the Dr. I was trying to avoid so many test because they are quite expensive. I wanted to narrow it down. Im a little surprised about the energy drinks. I thought they were just all out bad for you but maybe I can try it once.
Doctor :   no sodas and coke is bad
Doctor :   but energy drinks contain malt and once in a while is ok
Doctor :   you can give her fruit juices instead as well
Doctor :   thanks for consulting me here
Doctor :   i hope i have cleared your doubts
Doctor :   take care and bye for now
