User :   I have had a stomach ache for the past 3 days, and i think its caused by me not eating well. Whenever i work, (4-8hour shifts), i normally don't eat at all, and when I'm at school, i usually don't really eat. For the past few days, i have been getting minor stomach aches. I have had no diarrhea or vomiting. Yesterday, i ate a lot of food, and my stomach didn't hurt at all. What can i do to get rid of this ache, and is this hunger aches?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   let me read ur query
User :   Okay, thank you.
Doctor :   May i know ur age and occupation?
Doctor :   Do u take any medications ?
User :   20 years old, and i am a Cashier at a retail store.
User :   And no, i don't take any medications.
Doctor :   Any constipation or discomfort while passing bowels ?
User :   Well, today when i went to use the bathroom, there was no pain.
User :   The stool was normal color, no blood or anything.
Doctor :   these symptoms seem to be dueto irregular eating habits and hunger pangs occur when you avoid food for long time
User :   Yeah like, when i work, i wouldn't really eat, i would either just drink soda, or drink water.
User :   And i wouldn't eat for like 4-6hours.
Doctor :   Irregular food habits and eating junk food could cause health issues like constipation, IBS, anziety , lack of sleep etc
User :   same with school, i would eat breakfast like at 10am, then not eat until like 430pm.
User :   I have no Nausea, no Vomiting, just a uncomfortable stomach.
User :   When i eat, i eat fine though, no trouble eating at all.
Doctor :   correcting them and following a healthy diet and regular eatiing habits will be more than enough to take care of your symptoms
User :   So how long will this aching last, and how do i cure the ache? Just keep eating?
Doctor :   manage your time , keep some protein bars and cut fruits in your bag as and when u dont have time to eat
User :   So this is not a serious issue? Should i be taking pepto bismal?
Doctor :   if u dont have any diarhea, then pepto bismuth is not needed at all
User :   I was becoming very paranoid, thinking it was an ulcer, but i looked up on the internet what the symptoms of having an ulcer, and i had no symptoms listed.
Doctor :   there is nothing serious with you
Doctor :   its just a lifes tyle issue
User :   Like today, i woke up around 11am, ate something very small then went to work, around 3pm, my stomach started aching, so i grabbed a hot dog and ate, and my stomach isn't aching as much as it was before today morning, so after i finish eating, is it normal for my stomach to continue aching?
Doctor :   increased acid in stomach can cause persisting pain, that arises due to irregular food habits in the first place
User :   ah, so it's normal then for my stomach to be aching?
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   take some prilosec or prevacid
Doctor :   this will help to some extent
User :   I don't have anything in my medicine cabinet like that, is it okay if i just let me stomach continue aching, and have it naturally stop?
Doctor :   it will not stop naturally
Doctor :   u can go to the nearest pharmacy and have it instead
User :   So let's say if i eat normally again, the ache won't stop?
Doctor :   yeah u start eating normally, it will stop within a couple of days
User :   Okay, so it's okay to eat heavy like, steak, salad, etc.
Doctor :   yes
User :   Okay, yeah, i have been very paranoid for the past few days thinking i had some serious problem.
Doctor :   there is nothing serious at all
Doctor :   u can relax
User :   Heh, after talking to a doctor, i feel better now.
Doctor :   ok
User :   You have any advice for what i should eat or something?
Doctor :   you are young and not having any medical issues
Doctor :   so there is no contraindications to anything
User :   Okay, i am going to pay
User :   for more time.
User :   Because i have a couple more questions.
Doctor :   ok
User :   Okay, i just finished paying.
User :   I ate a hot dog about an hour ago, and in about 30minutes, i am going to eat a sandwich, will that be okay on my stomach?
Doctor :   yes thats fine
User :   Oh my other question was, last night i had a really bad headache, and ate 2 tylenol and had a little piece of toast, and i woke up having to use the restroom, is that associated with the aspirin considering my stomach was pretty much empty when i took it.
Doctor :   when did u wake up to go to the rest room
User :   oh today morning, when i was getting ready for work, i didn't have a stomach ache when i woke up.
User :   but i drank some water, and felt some pressure down there, then used the restroom.
Doctor :   thats completely fine
Doctor :   and has not association with with the aspirin
User :   oh okay.
User :   Because i heard that taking aspirin on an empty stomach is really bad.
Doctor :   but that occurs when u take it for long time
Doctor :   once or twice usage does not matter much
User :   Oh okay.
User :   So this ache will last for a while, say about a week if i continue to eat normally.
Doctor :   not really
Doctor :   it will pass off soon
User :   Oh okay.
User :   By the way, what causes this ache? I mean, before when i use to be hungry, i would just get a headache, associated with discomfort, i never really experienced an ache
Doctor :   these hunger pangs are due to intestinal contractions
User :   What does that mean?
Doctor :   the intestines contract regularly, when u r hungry
Doctor :   and these contractions when strong can cause such discomfort
User :   What do you mean by "strong"?
Doctor :   contractions can be severe when u are very hungry, and these are considered strong
User :   Makes perfect sense.
User :   I'm also guessing, drinking soda when my stomach is hungry is horrible.
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   defintely
Doctor :   soda contains CO2 and that cause stomach enlargement and increases acid secretion, and this inturn can increase your pain in turn
User :   See this is what makes no sense in my eyes, the day my stomach ache started, i was eating just fine that day, like i had some Cheese Broccoli pastry things, then coffee, and then when i ate Wendys (fast food joint) that's when my stomach ache occurred. Before my ache started, i was not eating regularly and it was the day before i didn't eat for 8hours due to work.
Doctor :   In case you have more doubts
Doctor :   you can seek a face to face consultation with your GP who after examination can give you more info
User :   I trust you though...makes sense, but its just weird that my stomach ache would last this long, let alone when i eat, my stomach doesn't hurt, but once i dont eat, my stomach hurts.
Doctor :   thats what my advice and suggestions were
User :   Yeah.
User :   So in your opinion, you think it's a simple ache due to irregular eating habits, and nothing serious.
Doctor :   yes
User :   Okay, will ginger, lemon tea do anything?
Doctor :   yes they are carminative and can help
User :   carminative?
Doctor :   yes they calm the stomach
User :   Okay, thanks for your help.
Doctor :   and are good for health
Doctor :   You are welcome
User :   If i don't have anymore questions, and if i end this chat, will i still have remaining time after?
Doctor :   no
Doctor :   this is a one time chat session
User :   Ah, gotcha.
Doctor :   but for confirmation you can drop a mail to the customer care and they will get back to you
User :   oh okay, i will just remain chatting, im sure a few questions might pop up.
User :   oh actually i do have one, if i take pepto bismal before i go to sleep, is there any side effects i can get from that?
Doctor :   no , no side effects from that
User :   Okay, but since its my lower intestine that is aching, it won't do much of anything?
Doctor :   no its not useful either
User :   okay, gotcha.
User :   Yeah, the more i think about where the pain is coming from, its in the lower intestine area.
Doctor :   yes
User :   So you say that like a ant-acid type pill can help?
Doctor :   take prilosec or prevacid
Doctor :   this will help
User :   i have this chewable tablet
User :   that is suppose to ease sour stomachs
Doctor :   yes
User :   What about Sprite or 7up?
Doctor :   those are bad too
User :   really?
User :   why is that?
Doctor :   plain water is good
User :   i drank 7up yesterrday
User :   and today
User :   i thought clear soda, was okay?
Doctor :   soda contains CO2 and that increases Acid secretion
User :   ooo
User :   so just plain water?
Doctor :   yes
User :   i have this stuff called "Crystal Light" it's like a powder you put in plain water, and it boosts up your immune system, is that okay or still just plain water?
Doctor :   i have no idea of this product
Doctor :   its just hear say
User :   Okay, its basically this powder that flavors up your water.
User :   adds no co2, or anything.
Doctor :   you can try it
Doctor :   if you like it you can take it
User :   k
User :   so how long can i not drink soda for?
Doctor :   as long as u have these issues
User :   Okay, but i can eat w/e i want?
Doctor :   yes
User :   So I'm sure you get this all the time, so are you just an online doctor?
Doctor :   no
User :   Or like you do head-on-head.
Doctor :   i practice as well at my office
User :   Ah, that's great.
User :   I am going to keep this site as my favorites, so i can keep coming back.
User :   You really helped me out, i feel relaxed now.
Doctor :   you are welcome
User :   if i don't eat regularly this ache is going to remain am i correct?
Doctor :   yes
User :   Okay, thank you.
Doctor :   i hope i have solved ur query
Doctor :   thanks for consulting me here
Doctor :   bye for now
