User :   Hello Doctors, I am a 24 year old male, and I have recently started using a Nitric Oxide Supplement (NO.Xplode by BSN) as a pre-workout supplement to gain that extra focus and energy before my work-outs, and the effects have been great. However I have been surfing the net for side-effects from the use of Nitric Oxide and I saw that they include temporary erectile dysfunction, possible kidney problems, increased blood pressure, and possible future heart problems. I would like to ask for your professional opinion on such a supplement so I can separate the garbage from the facts. Thank You!
Doctor :   Hello
Doctor :   Give me a min please
User :   Good afternoon doctor Oberoi..sure :)
Doctor :   let me read your query
Doctor :   So its been how long since you on the supplements ?
User :   10 days, not more
Doctor :   Ok let me tell you all the facts here
Doctor :   Yes what you have heard is all correct that NO does have a series of dangerous side effects,
Doctor :   BUT at the same tike it depends on the quantity \
Doctor :   and the duration you have been on them
User :   I see, I can provide you with a basic idea of how much I take per scoop
Doctor :   the thing is that many body builders start with the recomended dose But then as soon as they start seeing results its a nature that they start abusing them
Doctor :   and thats when the problem arises
Doctor :   you need to take the recomended dose thats been on the instruction label
Doctor :   and once you feel you have achieved what you wanted you have to STOP
Doctor :   as it does takes a very negative effect on your kidney
User :   According to the supplement facts, I am consuming 18g of "NO Explode's Proprietary Blend", other servings are 25mg of vitamin b6, 400mcg of folic acid, 120mcg of vitamin b12
User :   I see your point
Doctor :   So you have to be SMART enough to know when to stop
User :   This is why I will never take more than what im told
User :   according to the supplement, I will have to stop every 8 weeks for 1 month to cleanse my body, then start again
User :   but starting again scares me too
Doctor :   thats good . also do remember once you have achieved your desired results you have to STOP
Doctor :   your health is most important than anything
User :   very true
User :   I think I will just have a coffee from now on before my workouts to get the caffeine effect
Doctor :   Its good you are working out . but we also have to respect our body
Doctor :   yes you can actually do that
User :   now another question regarding the same topic, are there any health benefits from NO?
Doctor :   The reason that nitric oxide supplements have become a craze among bodybuilders is because it is said to help in building muscles. When a person takes nitric oxide supplements or boosters, the channels of the arteries are broadened due to which blood flow increases, subsequently sending more oxygen as well as nutrients to the muscles. Due to this, they gain more muscle mass which are stronger as well as firmer. Moreover, as nitric oxide aids in relieving inflammation, bodybuilders are more interested in it, as it is a great way of reducing pain caused by extreme stress caused to muscles while working out.
Doctor :   But i will tell you that human body it self is a amazing wonder, and it actually sometimes does not need the excess supplements
User :   So in the very long term (over 20 years) my body will be in a healthier state from NOT taking such supplements?
Doctor :   Its all about moderation
Doctor :   yes very true
User :   I see, ill just ignore the supplements because I don't want to face any surprises at an older age
User :   I dont want such supplements to come and haunt me when im 50 for example
Doctor :   Well that's a smart statement you have made
User :   How about whey protein? I hear its safe, any thoughts?
Doctor :   again its all the effect on the kidneys?
Doctor :   are youa professional body builder ?
User :   no
Doctor :   If not the dont fall in these traps
Doctor :   eat healthy and work out
Doctor :   you will be just fine
User :   I see
User :   Thank you for all the info doctor!
Doctor :   Your welcome
Doctor :   take care
Doctor :   bye
User :   bye
