User :   I woke up tis morning with a bruised eyelid. I didn't injure it in any way. I did notice that the air conditioning in my hotel room seemed to be hitting me right in that area.
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   May i know if you have any redness, pain swelling etc in that area ?
User :   Just a bruise in the corner, about 1/4th of the eyelid. It is purple.
User :   It is a bit sore, but only if I touch it.
Doctor :   does it affect your vision in anyway ?
User :   I happen to be traveling in Europe now, and my local contact said that it looks like something that they call here "wine eye." An irritant got in. Sounds possible. No problems with vision at all.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   You need not worry and panic
Doctor :   Apply ice packs for a few minutes over that area
Doctor :   take some pain killers like ibuprofen (advil)
User :   Ok. Is it possible that this was caused by an irritant versus trauma? I've never had this before.
Doctor :   any irritant or any trauma causing increased pressure, on the eyelid will cause increased circulation of blood in that area
Doctor :   this increased blood may percolate into the surrounding subcutaneous tissue producing the purple bruise
Doctor :   once healing starts the blood will be removed naturally and the area will normalise
Doctor :   until then you may feel a bit of sensitivity and pain
User :   Ok. Great - thank you doctor!
Doctor :   YOU are welcome
Doctor :   SO try the icepacks and advil
User :   will do, thanks!
Doctor :   in addition, you can take some antihistamines
Doctor :   to reduce the reaction of blood and to reduce the itching
Doctor :   i hope i have answered your questions
User :   Yes, thank
User :   you
Doctor :   please leave your feedback ,at the end of the chat
Doctor :   you are welcome,
Doctor :   take care
User :   you as well
Doctor :   bye for now
