User : Hello, I've had some abdominal pain lately along with floating stools. It's mainly the upper left abdomen and sometimes on the upper right side. I also have pain in my upper left back and a little fatigue. The last 6 months have been very stressful for me and there has been a lot of drinking. I have stopped drinking for 3 days now, but there has been no improvement. Any ideas?
Doctor : hello
User : Hi
User : Hello Dr.
Doctor : may i know ur age ?
User : 27
Doctor : ok
Doctor : have u done any blood tests ?
User : about a month ago I did...my cholesterol was a little high
User : my creatine was also a little high, but they said nothing worrisome
Doctor : i would advce you to get some blood tests like liver function tests, liver utltrasound
Doctor : to rule out liver issues
User : ok
Doctor : and based on the findings additional medications ca be prescribed
User : could this be something with my gallbladder or pancreas? I read about something called pancreatitis and the symptoms seemed very similar to what I had going on
Doctor : yes alcohol intake can cause Gb stones and pancreattis
Doctor : lack of pancreatic enzymes an cause floating stools due to excretion of fats in stools
User : what causes the lack of pancreatic enzymes?
Doctor : pancreatitis, or liver bile salt secretion deficiency can cause fats in stools
User : until I can get the tests done, what should my diet be like? Obviously no alcohol and fatty foods. How about coffee, tea, etc...
User : i like hot tea and drink it every night
Doctor : you can have tea cofee , those are fine
Doctor : avod high fat diet
Doctor : include simple carbs and protiens in the diet
User : my Doctor also thinks that I have IBS caused by stress/anxiety. Could that be causing the pain in my abdomen and back?
User : or the floating stools?
Doctor : floating stools is nt a feature of IBS
Doctor : cramps and constipation, or occasionla diarrhea are signs of ibs
User : is this something that I should give some time before I see a specialist? It's been less than a week, and I just cut out the fatty foods/alcohol 3 days ago
Doctor : you can take a time of one week to see your doctor , there is no need for urgency
User : what are the best pain meds to help with the back?
Doctor : ibuprofen or tylenol is a good pain killer
User : ok, and if it is pancreatitis, how is it treated?
Doctor : rest, and supportive medications and avoiding oral diet and iv nutrition is started to let the pancreas time to heal it self
User : ok, with the information I've provided, it doesn't seem like something life threatening, right? I didn't think so, but with everything you read online, it gets me worried.
Doctor : its not lifetreatening so far with ur issues right now
User : ok, well thank you for your help
Doctor : you are welcome
Doctor : i hope i have solved ur query
