User :   I have lost previously on Atkins easily. I've been on it a month and lost 6 pounds. Just not happening. I take beta blockers and statin drugs. I'm 64, not diabetic but I think Metformin may help me. How can I find a local doctor to help me through?
Doctor :   hello
User :   hello
Doctor :   tell me your query ?
Doctor :   why do you say metformin will help you ? in what way ?
User :   Just talking with people. Wondering if it would help my body process insulin.
Doctor :   if you are not diabetic then it will cause no benefit at all
User :   I am 70 pounds overweight. My blood sugar last testing was 122.,
Doctor :   that is about borderline diabetes
Doctor :   atkin at this age can cause you more harm
Doctor :   as it will put extreme load on the kidney
Doctor :   i advice you not to follow atkins
User :   Well it's the only diet that's ever worked. I know everyone says that but I have been diligent in my efforts. What do you suggest?
Doctor :   nothing can beat exercise and diet in order to lose weight
Doctor :   atkins at 64 is not at all recommended. you are putting your health in danger
User :   Okay. Thank you. I will consider your recommendation to stop Atkins.
Doctor :   your most welcome
