Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Can you brief me how significant is her memory loss?
Doctor :   and since when have you noticed it?
User :   her memory is pretty good its just sometimes she is weird and doesn't remember certain things, but overall its pretty good.
Doctor :   Ok
User :   my sister noticed something was a little wrong maybe during the summer
Doctor :   Does she forget about her daily routine?
Doctor :   I mean, do you notice that she can't remember what breakfast she had in the morning?
Doctor :   Forget the names of kins?
User :   no she doesn't she 's not very active lives in florida and doesn't do to much.
User :   no she is pretty sharp as far as remembering everyone
Doctor :   Does she need assistance in performing her daily routine such as eating, changing clothes and so on?
Doctor :   Does she have history of diabetes, high BP, thyroid problems?
Doctor :   Was she affected by strokes leading to paralysis in the past?
User :   no she is fine as far as that goes. we feel that she just a little different and sometimes very quiet which is not her at all.
User :   she has a pace maker
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me explain.
Doctor :   Memory impairment occurs due to multiple problems.
Doctor :   I shall broadly classify them as central nervous causes and metabolic causes.
Doctor :   Central nervous system causes such as reduced blood flow to the brain, previous strokes, brain atrophy and alzheimers disease are few examples that can cause significant memory loss.
Doctor :   similarly, metabolic impairments such as hormone disturbances, electrolyte disturbances, reduced cardiac, renal and liver functions can cause memory impairment.
Doctor :   From your description, it probably appears that she has less significant memory impairment secondary to age related brain atrophy.
Doctor :   However, from this far, without a physical examination and evaluation, I cannot confirm or rule out other possible causes.
Doctor :   Hence, if she is progressively worsening both in memory and daily activities, I would suggest you to consider consulting a doctor - a neurologist, who
Doctor :   can perform a physical examination and the evaluation for any other treatable causes.
Doctor :   In the mean time, good care, proper nutrition and multivitamin supplements(one pill a day) can make a difference in her attitude and memory.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   any multivtamin and i will follow with a dr.
Doctor :   Multivitamin pills containing folic acid and vitamin b12 will be useful.
Doctor :   Examples of such vitamins are Unicobal forte.
Doctor :   One pill a day of this pill will be useful.
